The next two nights, Miami vs Orlando and Orlando vs Chicago, will be huge games in the MVP race.

Dwight Howard has been the most dominant player in basketball over the last 2+ months. That's a fact.
If Orlando finishes ahead of Chicago, Dwight should get the MVP. Hell; Dwight should get the MVP anyways, IMO.

Just did the math.
Since the December trades(36 games) were made, Dwight is averaging 24.5pts, 14.97rebs, 1.36asts, 2blks, 1.33stls, 3.39 TOs, 3.19 fouls, and his shooting averages are: .608(313/515) and .618 from the line(256/414).
Discuss.

There is not much to discuss. Dwight Howard is clearly playing at a higher level than anyone else in the NBA. He is the MVP. The only reason Rose will get MVP is because the Bulls are exceeding everyone's expecatations, which were not very high to start the season.

You are correct. The Magic have not met expectations. But lets not forget Orlando is only 4 games behind Chicago in the loss column.

All I know is Dwight doesn't have 5-of-21 shooting nights.
He has the most player of the month awards than anyone (2) and the most player of the week awards (5). Those are usually good barometers of who takes MVP.

I'm on board with this. Orlando takes both of those games and I think Dwight will start getting some love in the Nat'l media (deservedly so). At this time of the year the marquee games count for more because people have that "what have you done for me lately mentality".
That will be difficult to take both those games though. Actually ORL has a pretty difficult stretch of games coming up here:
@MIA, CHI, POR, @LA, DEN, Knicks twice, @ATL all this month. Could make or break Howard's MVP chances.

1d. Derrick Rose
5. Kevin Durant
6. Kobe Bryant
7a. LaMarcus Aldridge
7b. Russell Westbrook
9. Chris Paul
10. Dwyane Wade, Manu Ginobili

Wow we do have a difficult schedule. I just noticed that myself. I think Friday's Chicago game will be huge for the MVP race in the short term. It is in Orlando. If Dwight Howard plays big and Orlando wins, you will hear the croud chant MVP on live tv (louder than normal). Later it will be followed up on by sportscenter and espn.com in the morning on who the real MVP is. There is also an ABC game in Chicago on April 10. Depending on team records this could also be a very important game. On a side note I don't think Lebron or Dirk have a shot at MVP. It will be Rose or Howard.

Dwight's averaging 28.4 points/14.8 rebounds/2.7 blocks + great efficiency, the past 10 games.
If Orlando somehow manages to get the third seed, Dwight's got that MVP on lock.

He have been balling ever since they traded Gortat away. But true, I bet he'll be the favorite if Magic are able to get that 3rd seed.

Then why do the Bulls do better statistically when Rose is off the floor this season?

Well, the expectations were based on a team that doesnt exist anymore.
No one set those expectations based on the current makeup of the roster...

It’s Rose-LeBron right now but if Orlando catches the Bulls or Heat, it should be Dwight.
