John Wall makes 2000 shots a day

Dude is the complete package.
John Wall: I didn’t have to shoot jumpshots when I was in high school; I just ran past everybody and just dunked and did whatever. So this whole summer that’s all I’m working on is my jumpshot. I wanna take the next step to being a superstar, to be an All-Star, that’s my goal this year, so I’m working on my jumpshot and everything else….
Question (Audience): So you’ve been working on your jumper. Do you try to hit a certain amount everyday?
John Wall: I have to make 2,000 a day.
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... k-contest/I wonder what good NBA shooters make per day, anyone know?

Boy whenever we have our next ASG, the East PG's will be loaded.
D. Rose, D-Will, Rondo, & Wall?
And to think 2 years ago the West had the superior PG's.

That's the same number that Kobe does. Lebron should take note of this. Only this type of work ethic can result in a noticeable improvement in his jumper, within a short amount of time.

Derrick Rose only takes 1,000 threes a day, John Wall has a better work ethic than him.
Seriously though, John Wall's gonna end up better than Rose.

I wonder how many LeBron has to make a day. Probably 100?
LeBron has a terrible work ethic. No wonder why he doesn't have a post game already

Oh cause you know this.
We need an on topic forum that deals with form, tendencies, aggressiveness...just overall game. It's easy to say...Myself, at 27, if he's shooting 2k shots a game, he's far behind me. I'm not comparing myself to him, Wall is a greatttttt basketball player. But it's just the very tip of the iceberg. A process that every basketball player goes through. It's how hard you work at individual skills and how you are able to apply them to the game WHILE adjusting to the speed of the game.
Wall shooting 2k is as meaningless as someone dribbling for an hour. It's a progress but not an indicator of greatness. No one makes it to the NBA by accident, there is something that gets them there. Height, athleticism, speed, handles, etc etc...It's how you take what you have whether it be on the practice floor or god given, and produce on the floor.
RealGM is so rooted in fandom that this news is something to bow down to. It's not, high school players, at this very hour, are getting up 2k shots. It will be Wall's ability to apply these skill sets to the NBA game and his his ability to adjust to the speed of the game that will make him great.
I think he can do it, for sure. But shooting making 2k shots a day is pretty much worthless unless you can do it with a hand in your face. Let's wait and see...hopefully his drive will carry his talents over to that top level...I love how stacked with talent the NBA is becoming!

Care to elaborate? I've seen you call Wall overrated in every topic about him, but have yet to see you explain why or why you think Rose will be the better player. Not saying you're wrong or anything, but I hate when people just say random **** and just start hating.

Derrick Rose made very few statements about reaching the next level.
He asked 'Why can't I be MVP?' two seasons ago and everyone laughed at him. He kept quiet and added a jumpshot over last summer and now he's the MVP of the league.
Personally, I'd like Wall to do less talking and just prove it. We all saw him during the charity games. If he makes 2,000 jumpshots everyday, then he needs a new shooting coach cuz his release is way too slow to be really effective.
I'm not saying he can't do it. But I'd prefer to prove to everyone that I'm a beast with my play in a real NBA game rather than just talking about it all of the time.

Good signs showing a very strong work ethic unlike many young star. However jumpshot practice is the easiest training you can do and can make you develop bad habits. 2,000 also seems like an awful lot, and I doubt he's doing much more training.

High school players are shooting this much? I don't think so. I don't think you realize how much 2000 is(for comparison, Duncan takes about 200 bank shots while he was in college). And it's makes, not takes.

I'm telling you guys, when it comes down to it in basketball, size trumps talent all day.
Wall needs to hit that weight room. Rose is a biggggg dude at that PG spot. When you can body someone and get your way it breeds confidence. It's great that Wall is working on his skills and striving to be a better player. But do not sleep on the fact that body> skill when you get to this level.
Wall will get bigger, that's for sure. Can he handle Rose's strength? That's to be seen. Pretty exciting time for the PG position.

Love this guy for his work ethic and attitude, just how he wants to dominate, and he's smart enough to know he needs to be at least a good shooter in order to become an unstoppable offensive weapon.
I agree with the above poster though. He needs to do more than just shoot open jumpers in the gym. He needs someone guarding him on these shots. He could benefit from a shooting coach working with him, his form was ugly coming into the league. Looking at highlights from this summer, his form has improved a little, but he still doesnt get much lift.
I wish this lockout would just friggen end already. I need to see just how improved Wall's all round game is now that he is 100% healthy and is working on his shot. He had one of the best rookie pg campaigns in a decade, pretty excited to see how he follows it up.

I've seen Wall in most of these charity and exhibition games. In the first few I watched (Capital Punishment, UK Pros vs. DR), he bricked most of his jumpers. But in the Drew vs. Goodman League rematch, his J was money, especially off the pull-up. His jumper remains the same mechanically, but it seems like he's gaining confidence in his J, but we won't know that for sure until the regular season starts back up.
But we know that work ethic isn't an issue for him. He still has a lot of weaknesses, but he's gonna keep on grinding, and work to improve all of them. I think he'll be a top 10 player in the league soon.

For sure man, you're naive to think otherwise. 2k is excessive but if you're thought is "someone else is shooting more than I am" than the ceiling is literally limitless until your arms get too heavy.
Was an article in the paper last year chronicling the dude from a town over shooting 1k 3's a day, thats not even counting FT's, mid range, lay ups, etc etc.
Game takes work bro, and if your driving thought is 'someone else is doing it' then you are in good company. After that it's just about how far you want to take it.

No where in that article does in state anything about a HS player. I says that Wall didn't have to work on his shot back in HS.
But yeah, I have a hard time believing he's actually shooting (and making) 2000 jumpers a day. That's A LOT!

Rose will be a better player, simple as that.

Man, only if Rondo took that many jumpers...
Wall is going to become Jkidd in his prime 2.0, he will have a better jumper and score more. I can see
25/10/6 with 2 steals as numbers in his prime. If the Wizards really build well around Jwall I can actually see him breaking Stockton and Scott Skiles record.

He was responding to my post in which I said that work ethic starts at the HS level. Which it does.
