Can't really see Iverson having many options besides playing the role Nate Robinson played coming off the bench on the Celtics.

honestly, no, i didnt watch too much piston games, dont think i have explain myself there. ok even if he is a good playmaker, you guys dont think AI is still a better playmaker than he is? also i understand that minutes will reduce chances of injuries, but Tmac has had more injuries and is still more prone to injury than AI. but now that i think about it, Tmac is more accepting of his role than AI is, and Tmac doesnt have issues outside of the court, so its really making me rethink my mind

McGrady is 6'8 with a 7'2 wingspan

Iverson is listed at 6'0 ( is that accurate?) with a 6'3 wingspan.

Don Nelson always said it, small guys who are fast eventually slow down, taller guys never shrink.

Purely from a defensive standpoint, McGrady has more variable options. Also McGrady has shown the ability to work well without being completely ball dominant. McGrady is probably also a better long range shooter and doesn't come with the alcoholic/gambler baggage that AI does. ( That being said, I still think McGrady is a classless douchebag with a lousy attitude. Staging a sickout because you hate your coach is one of the reasons why fans decide it's easier to stay at home and watch the game on TV rather than buy season tickets. )

Personally, if I was a contender team, I wouldn't want either of these guys if I had more choices. That being said, if I had to pick, if there was a gun to my head, I'd take the player with the most variable options to offer me ( i.e. McGrady) End of the bench roles are for specialists, guys with size who can offer six hard fouls, developmental projects and guys who can offer versatility.

Even if his attitude is changed the guy is 36 years old and has a game that depended so much on his quickness. He can't defend, he's not a threat from behind the arc, and he doesn't have the type of court vision that allowed Stockton and now Nash play at a star level well into their 30's. He plays with heart, but he's not the type of guy you want mentoring younger players.

So what exactly can he bring to a team aside from a small boost in ticket sales?

AI is just looking for a paycheck. I seriously doubt he wants to help any team win anything, because he's certainly not going to make any kind of difference with the bottom-feeders he listed.

I wouldn't want him on the Lakers at all. He's a cancer and doesn't provide anything that we actually need, which is outside shooting and guard defense. As crappy as Blake was for us last year, he's a better defender, play-maker, and shooter than AI.

Man, I hope that's being made up by someone, or maybe Kobe is just completely losing it (he doesn't seem to get that his bad defense last year was a big part of the problem).

AI is a horrible fit. He can have all the heart in the world, but it's not going to matter if he can't hit shots, play defense, or show up to games. I might have been for this a couple of years ago when he still had his speed/quickness, but the way he went out in Memphis and Philadelphia doesn't speak well about his "heart" at all. He straight up quit on those teams.

The sad thing is, our guards suck so damn bad outside of Kobe that I might have to turn a blind eye to some of that stuff. Come to think of it, if we can get rid of Shannon Brown then I might actually warm up to the idea.

sad day to say this since I still rock my old A6s a lot, but I'll take larry hughes before AI as a Bulls. With LH, at least the guy recently showed he was resigned to a bench role and accepted it calmly (Bobcats). Every team AI has been on the last 3 years, he has gone berserk because he wasnt starting.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, Minnesota Timberwolves

He would only fit on a contending team that has the defense to cover for him and the vets who could handle him. Dallas, SA, Bos. I don't see him fitting on the Lakers at all, nor would Miami or Chi put up with him.

I'd like the Heat to invite him to workout. What's the worst that could happen? I would love to get some instant offense off the bench on the cheap. What other team has not one, but two egos bigger than Iverson's? Wade and LeBron will keep him in check or ship him out.

At worst, we cut him. At best, Allen Iverson, one of the most hated players of all time, wins a championship with the most hated team of all time! Sign me up. 8-)

Well, between Bibby and Chalmers, Miami could consider Iverson?

As someone quoted Nelson though, little guys slow down, big men don't shrink. Stockton, Kidd, etc. play(ed) bigger roles in their older ages because they pass the ball more often than attack the rim on a cross-over. 3P-ball is important too. I see small chance in blue hell that AI comes back and makes a positive impact.

Oh dear God not Larry hughes. Not Larry Hughes.

I'd take Keith Bogans over Larry Hughes. In fact, life as a Bulls fan doesn't seem so bad when thinking of the backcourt and within this context...

This has Orlando Magic written all over it or am I crazy? They should be doing anything right now to give themselves a shot.
