Labor talks between NBA owners and players broke down Friday, just one day after both sides expressed optimism they were close to an agreement that could save the league’s 2011-12 season.

The impasse once again centered on the split of revenue or basketball-related income between the league’s owners and players. One source told Yahoo! Sports that the BRI split was only “partly” responsible for the breakdown in talks. The two sides also “couldn’t agree on the final pieces of the system.”

maybe they have just "ended" for the day.

It doesnt necessarily mean that both sides and pissed & going home mad.

They can wrap it up over the weekend - or else forget a 82 game season

It seems that they broke off due to use of the exceptions by teams over the cap ... owners budged on the Bird, but players just want it the old way. Hold firm owners, save the small markets.

It's not like it's back to square one.

There are just a few more areas to be worked out.

Step away from the table - return later & close it out!
