Sorry for posting here, but I thought people should be aware of what's coming up soon.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45064085/ns ... earth-nov/Now, it's not gonna hit the Earth, but it has a shot at hitting the Moon, which would be disastrous...if that happens, we could be stuck in 24 hour sunlight every day if the impact is significant enough to move the moon out of our orbit.

Im no astronomy genius, but how would we be in 24 hour sunlight without the sun?

The sun is still gonna be there, but the moon blocking it won't be if the impact actually happens.

ummmm...I'm pretty sure that nightime is caused by the Earths rotation (backside not hitting the sun). Not because there's an eclipse everynight, lol.

???
When night rolls around...it's not because of the moon...its because of the earths rotation.
The moon blocking the sun is a solar eclipse...it happens very seldom.

I'm not sure if you're purposely being obtuse, but the Earth's rotation is what creates the illusion of day and night, not the moon's shadow.

No moon would most certainly effect the earths rotation. Anybody trying to lose those extra pounds, have no fear, you won't believe the scale once that pesky moon is out of the way!

wouldn't that be worse than, we wouldn't have any light during night time then correct?

There might be some tide implications...which would be pretty bad.

No moon = no werewolves. We'll be fine, we'll just keep hanging out in our parents' basements, like we always do.

In cities I doubt people rely on the moon for night lighting but when I was in Somalia I was shocked by how bright/dark some nights were.

*Excuse me, sorry, excuse me, outta my way, guy who currently has an A in Geography coming through*
mademan is correct. We experience nighttime because of the Earth's rotation.
I don't know what would happen if the moon were to be destroyed though. Here's an article that probably has the answer, but which I'm too lazy to read:

I remember watching this program that discussed that without the moon life in the sea probably wouldn't have been able to reach land.

Don't vampires get the bleeds though if they're up during the day? OR is that only if they don't get enough sleep? If it is because they're up during the day, then they should be worried.
