RUDY fits in with karl's and DENs overall offensive philosophy. mite as well pick up brewer since DAl needs to dump him anyways.

cuban is setting up this mavs team for next year's FA spending...if they amnesty marion before this season (have to exercise that option now) and trade haywood for a TPE and a pick prior to FA opening next season, only dirk and roddy ($22M combined) are left on the roster for 2012, that's roughly $36M to go after dwight and deron williams (both have to opt out regardless of where they finish this season for $$ reasons)..

mavs could potentially have a deron/roddy/full MLE/dirk/dwight roster + a TPE, fill that out with vet's looking for a ring and it's the best roster in the league

As long as George Karl isn't (Please Use More Appropriate Word), and doesn't start Fernadez over Afflalo/pushes for Afflalo not to be signed, I'm okay with it. And the compensation is only a couple second rounders or something...

It's bizarre with the Mavericks though. They basically gave up a first rounder for likely/hopefully a second rounder.

what's foolish about that? VC/delonte were both signed to 1 year deals, odom/kidd/jet/mahinmi all expire next year...dwight and deron clearly want to play together and the mavs are both on their short lists of teams they'd sign a long-term deal with

both dwight ($30M difference) and deron ($20M difference) will opt-out regardless for the additional cash, it's not ridiculous to think they would take a $2M pay cut to play together with dirk (see bron/wade/bosh), the cap will be $58M and change for the 2012-2013 season

Hilarious to see them adopt the Miami Heat superteam model, after everyone raived over and over how the Mavs starplayer with a bunch of role stars was the way to go. Even funnier to see fans supporting it after pitching such a fit about the Heat.

If Denver gets Nene and Afflalo back, they'll have a very deep bench again with Andre Miller/Rudy Fernandez/Corey Brewer/Al Harrington/Faried/Birdman.

Brilliant move by Denver. They needed wings and they got them for a second round pick. Both players are rotation players in the NBA clearly.

Everyone liked Brewer in Dallas but since they changed their plans with the new CBA into Capspace in 2012 his 3.4M next summer was hurting.

They ship him out and will sign two vets with one year contracts (one guard, one big).

Maybe even Stevenson.
