Bulls can compete with Heat for ECF in my opinion.
Rose
Hamilton
Deng
Boozer
Noah
very good starting line up.

With their histories, banking on that is a hell of a gamble.

Big enough upgrade... that will depend more on other things. Like the team's health, and further advancement of Derrick Rose as a superstar.
And the extent to which Rip's production last season was a product of his environs.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Good signing. Even if Rip is 34 in a couple of months and can't run/defend like he used to, he still has an effective midrange jumper, and is still an upgrade over the SGs that the Bulls have had.

Re: Official: Hamilton signs with Bulls
The Bulls could've competed with the heat without Hamilton anyway. According to Bulls fans the 1-4 series loss was more-so because of injuries than the hole at the 2.
As for Rip, great fit. He'll definitely throw a wrench into the swarming/pseudo double-team strategy that MIA used against Rose in the ECFs.
I'm worried about him defensively though. He's 185 and Wade entered camp at 230. Wade also carved him and that vaunted DET defense up in '06 (62% shooting), but for whatever reason he always plays like crap against CHI. So, Rip will probably be fine defensively.
Nice signing.

They still need another dynamic scorer too take away all the pressure just resting on Rose's shoulders.
they should SIGN Crawford as backup for Rose and Hamilton and they are SET!

I think this was a great signing by the Bulls and should really help them make a repeat to the Eastern Finals against the Heat.Still don't think their better then the Heat but are for sure now the 2nd best team in the East, and a legit title contender.
Funny thing about RIP and the Bulls I have been talking about this move for two years now.Thought it would have happen at last years trade deadline but at least I got it right.

Chicago fans will have most piston fans rooting for them in the playoffs(if its not against the pistons).
We loved rip and wish him only the best. Great pickup
How on earth could it be against the Pistons? How many more years do you think Rip is going to play? 10?

Doubtful it appears Bogans is going to be either traded or waived opening a spot for Butler.

Don't know if the Bulls are the deepest team, but they're good, and signing Rip is a good move. Honestly, he probably should've left Detroit 2-3 seasons ago.

Bulls have a solid 10 man rotation with no players that are liabilities. They're top 2 at worst.

Re: Official: Hamilton signs with Bulls
To those who are saying the Bulls need a secondary ball handler/play maker, you're right, to an extent. They need someone like that to lead the second unit's scoring. Watson is the best at it but Thibodeau doesn't seem to want to let him do it, so he just passes to Korver running off screens.
Anyway, a HUGE problem with Keith Bogans was that he couldn't do anything with the ball unless he had a wide open 3. He has no handles and no creative passing ability. So, if Rose is double teamed and the ball comes to Bogans when he's defended or not in a position to launch a 3, the ball completely stops and the offense needs to be reset.
This is where Rip is a MASSIVE upgrade. He can get the ball and make a 3 at the same clip as Bogans. He can take a dribble or two to set up a mid-range jumper, he can move the ball around and find the open man... he can do a myriad of things with and without the ball. That's what the Bulls need more than anything from their 2 guard in the starting lineup and Rip gives us that.
As said, ideally, we'd have a more dynamic guy to lead the offense of the second unit (Crawford would be nice for that more so than a starter), but you can't always have everything in life. We'll just have to settle for the second team's absolutely suffocating defense.
