Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

$3,000 birthday cake. What is the actual cost to make that, $500 including service fees. Big deal.

They are just trying to market themselves.

Why did his team deny the cake? Basketball reasons.

She would seriously want 3 grand for that cake if someone came in her store?

Is the crown actually inedible gold, as in a real crown?

I mean I don't know much about cakes, but I would have assumed something like that would cost about a grand or so maximum if you walked into a reputable big time bakery.

I got to google cakes now.

And if I was as rich as those guys, no way I'd spend that much on a cake. Geezus, I could do so much more with $3000.

The baker was offered free publicity to make that cake

The title of this thread makes LeBron out to be even more of a douche, when that cake simply just sucks

How on earth is that monstrosity valued at $3000? The profit margin must be insane! I'm in the wrong profession

He's still financially responsible for his "people's" first agreeing and then backing out. If Lebron's a man, he'll accept responsibility for his underling's mistake, apologize to the woman and visit the cake shop. But, he's probably not a man, so that probably won't happen.

All his people did was hire a party planner and that is the person who worked out a deal with the baker. When they got to the party and saw the 2 cakes they chose the one they liked better.

You know that's illigal right. When you arrange free work in exchange for publicity, you're not supposed to go to 2 and pick the best one. That's called breach of contract, whether the contract was written or verbal, it's still breach of contract, though verbal is more difficult to prove.

Either way, LeMedia is financially responsible and the woman is right to call him out. He should apologize.
Embiid wanted to win so badly, he deliberately injured Mitchell Robinson.

Classy.

The beautiful irony is that by rejecting the cake, and causing the resulting story, this woman has gotten far more publicity and had her cake seen by far more people than if they had accepted it.

Kobe8Forever wrote:Whether or not Lebron personally knew about what I'm now calling "cakegate" is irrelevant. The only question is whether Lebron is bound to honor the agreement made by his representatives.

Even if Lebron did not grant his representatives the right to enter into this contract, the legal doctrine of "apparent authority" refers to a situation where a reasonable person would understand that an agent (lebron's posse) had authority to act. This means a principal (Lebron) is bound by the agent's actions, even though the agent had no actual authority, whether express or implied. It raises an estoppel because the third party (said poor baker) is given an assurance, which she relies on and would be inequitable for the principal to deny the authority given.

Here, Lebron's posse promised the baker an endorsement in exchange for a cake. The woman, relying on the promise, spent $6,000 in materials, labor, and opportunity costs. Despite delivering on her promise, Lebron's posse of no good hoodlums failed to deliver on the promise of an endorsement.

The baker's remedy is the $6,000 for the costs incurred. Furthermore, while emotional distress cannot be measured in monetary terms, a $1,000,000 reward would not be unreasonable in light of the outrageous behavior of Lebron and said posse.

for what, he didn't do anything, and you also don't know the details of the verbal contract, it might have had to meet certain requirements which it didn't.

if someone has to apologize it's the planner.
