That 2nd one would have to be there to spur him, though; no way he leaves just for money and prestige.

Again, though, he's making money, has the recognition, and has failed at the NBA with a mediocre team with weak ownership support before. It's just not worth it unless you're looking to develop an NBA career. Plus, the last thing Sacramento needs is Calipari's dribble-drive offense... blech.

He's actually going to be a good coach, I think. He's a good personality manager and he understands floor balance pretty well.

Jeff Van Gundy is unemployed. Try him.

If he can be convinced to leave his current position and you get him an offensive coordinator, outstanding.
.
Calipari, Coach K., Tom Izzo, Calhoun..

Again, none of those guys, ESPECIALLY Coach K, are very likely to leave the NCAA.

Not very likely? To run a NBA team with total freedom?
.
I don't think so. Maybe not the mess that are the Sacramento Kings, but a team like the Wizards (lol at saunders) or the Clippers...who knows?

JVG won't put up with Cousin's ****.

One of them would die on the practice court and it won't be JVG.

Coach K has made his stance very clear. Izzo has had opportunities to come to the NBA and has passed them up and I can't see Calhoun coming over either.

Could have said the same thing about Caroll. Had money and previous failure in the league, but he still left.

they're better off looking at an up and coming asst coach. one who's known for player development.
guys like mike budenholzer, dean demopolous, brian shaw or elston turner.

coach cal would be awful. they dont need a recruiter, they need a coach. plus i doubt the kings would be able to satisfy his financial needs. he's already making like 4 mill a yr.

Yep, sometimes people going against trends. Calipari hasn't responded actively to any calls regarding NBA opportunities of late, even though they've come. And Coach K has, again, made his stance abundantly clear. There was a lot of speculation after his time with the Redeem Team that he'd come over to the league but there he still is, coaching Duke.

Westphal was a terrible coach and has been for his entire tenure here in Sacramento. Good decision overall by the organization.

agree 100%, this is not cousins vs. westphal, its kings players vs. westphal coaching/system. cousins is the only player in kings roster who had balls to confront westphal because the team has no direction on westphal system.

Sam Amick: Source says Kings vets Chuck Hayes and Francisco Garcia called a players-only meeting for 330 today because, well, there's no head coach. Twitter

Chuck Hayes would never throw any coaches under the bus. Never has, never will. He probably organized the meeting to try to stabilize things and try to get the younger guys in line. *cough*cousins*cough*

Always nice to see bad behavior rewarded.

LOL at everyone thinking this is about Cousins and nothing more. The ENTIRE team wanted this dude gone, his time was up and lasted probably a year longer than it should have. Seems like a nice guy, but he just can't handle the personalities of the NBA.

I agree. But, there is a time and manner to do so.

That time was at the end of last season. Not 5 games into this one.

I laugh at those that think this ISN'T about Cousins. Of course it is. The timing tells you everything you need to know.

Don't want to damage Hayes' rep, but the last couple of games I think even Chuck was tanking on his coach.
