Rose, CP3
Wade, Kobe
LBJ, KD, Melo
Bosh, Grif
Howard, Love, LMA

It would really come down to Melo or Grif or LMA vs a 3rd PG (D-Will)

I'd be very surprised if Bosh doesn't make it. Almost everything that he gets bagged on about in the NBA makes him an ideal fit for international play. He's also five times the team defender a guy like Blake Griffin is. Probably the most underrated aspect of his game.

I have Rose in my possible squad, but he wasn't there in 2008 and was basically a non factor in 2010.As good as he is in Nba he hasn't shown much in international game,it's not an outrageous thought to imagine USA team without him.

yet Blake is a lock?

edit: nvm responding to wrong guy.

@peja: was his first exposure to international ball, was being too passive and trying to give everyone the ball. I think if he played like his normal self, coupled with his improved court vision and shooting he would be much more effective.

I'm probably in the minority but I enjoyed Team USA basketball better when it was the young kids playing and not the professionals. It just seemed more simple and pure.

I'd rather watch college kids or young under the radar NBA players than LeBron, Melo, Wade, Kobe etc. Already been there done that. Give the young kids a chance to represent the country. I don't need to see the large posses or stars colluding to form superteams during the Olympics.

I just don't see why you wouldn't start LeBron and Durant at both forward spots.

Who guards that? The two best scorers in the game with at least one mismatch if not two.

Will you stay think the same when they're blown out by the likes of Serbia or Greece in the early stages?
The game has changed a lot since the 80's, a team composed by college kids wouldn't be competitive.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I´m not american so don´t give a .... about USA squad, but if i have to choose starting squad, i start the most athletic, long/tall line up i can put up there, so they can bully all those inferior teams and run fastbreaks till they are bored of it, if the team that has lebron+wade has a huge lead, those fekkin beasts are just having fun out there, lob/ally-oops behind the back and all that stuff- i think every fan of bbal will like to watch that as well.

ROSE
Wade
Durant
Lebron
Dwight

great athleticism, great lenght/wingspan, playmaking, rebounding, durant as PF on offense to stretch the floor, great all-world defense, all world fastbreak, unstoppable 1v1, enough playmaking to bust the zone if disciplined, enough 3pt shooting with durant+rose,
if its not enough you bring that from the bench. same as Cp3´s playmaking, this is 2012 not 2008 cp3, that guy hasn´t been in NBA for 3 years now. you bring KLove, Melo, Iggy, Kobe and Cp3 from the bench.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if we'd be even remotely competitive. But those days are long gone. The notions of amateurism regarding the Olympics are fairly quaint anymore, outside of the fringe sports nobody really cares about.

Everybody else uses their pros, so it seems only fair to use ours. One of the biggest things I enjoy about international ball is getting to root for players like LeBron and Durant that I otherwise root against. And on the same team, together? Can't get enough.

I especially like watching these guys blow away all those snobbish notions that we play some sub-standard brand of ball while the rest of the world has mastered our game. That **** needed to be put to bed in the worst way.

PG: Chris Paul
PG: Derrick Rose
PG: Deron Williams
PG: Russell Westbrook

2G: Kobe Bryant
2G: Dwyane Wade
2G: Ray Allen
2G: Monta Ellis

SF: LeBron James
SF: Carmelo Anthony
SF: Kevin Durant
SF: Danny Granger

PF: Amare Stoudemire
PF: Blake Griffin
PF: Chris Bosh
PF: Kevin Love

C: Dwight Howard
C: Andrew Bynum

Those, in my eyes, should be the 18 players who are candidates for the Olympic team.

CP3, Rose, Williams, Bryant, Wade, LeBron, Melo, Durant, Amare, Griffin, Bosh and Howard should be the 12 players who make the final roster. I'd love to have both Ray Allen for his sharp shooting and Kevin Love for his ability to feast on the boards, but those are my 12 I'm sticking with.

I never thought I'd be able to say this, but this team is loaded and could dominate just as much as the DREAM TEAM!

Why would anybody start Rose when having the best NBA players at the other positions to chose from?

CP3 is way better as a pure playmaker and you really dont need Rose´ scoring if you have Wade,Lebron,Durant at 2,3 and 4

I dont get why Rose should start ...
