you can say gamblers fallacy all you want but shooting isnt a pure statistic, hes not going be able to keep up 65% 3pt shooting for a whole season just because he did it over one 10 game stretch and in all likelyhood by the end of the season his % wont be that far off from what he normally does. thats just how it goes

The Gamblers fallacy is the thought that because something is happening one way, it will happen the other way regardless of the odds because its 'due'. IE I flipped 3 heads in a row, tails is due.

Ray Allen is a career 40% 3pt shooter. Hes shooting 65%. He will revert back to mean because hes for his career more likely to miss shots. Its completely different. Ray Allen is a 40% shooter who is shooting 65%. Thats not going to continue.

That number will definitely drop, but that's not what the gambler's fallacy means. It'll drop because its ridiculous to maintain that level of production for the whole season. If Kobe had back to back 50 point games to open the season, would you assume he'd average 50 for the entire season? No. That's not the gambler's fallacy.
