Denver hasn't lost 5 games in a row since April 2003. They got blown out at home against the GS Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets in the past week.

They went from contenders two weeks ago...to pretenders now...and possibly tankers for 2012 lottery pick.

Despite losing, their players are keeping a positive:

I voted pretenders....but that isn't really a fair description.

I never thought they were contenders....but I thought they would make the off's. "Solid team lacking a star" wasn't an option.

Injuries

They're pretenders. The Nuggets are a team thats great for a shortened season since they've got athletes and depth, but losing Galinari (spelling) has hurt them, we'll see how the Nuggets bounce back.

I have a feeling, that Denver and Utah will not make the playoffs this year.

They were bound to come back down to Earth. They are still a surprise team and a quality team, but the West might be too deep for them to make the playoffs.

Gallo has been out with injury, who is arguably their best player. This team will compete in the West, tho Thunder and Lakers are the favorites.

It just shows how important Gallinari is to that team. Calling them pretenders because they lost their best player isn't fair.

Yeah, Gallinari is a pretty huge piece that they've lost, but if they can keep a decent record while he's out, I still think they can be a dark-horse when Gal comes back.

They're in the tender group. They are neither good enough to be considered a contender, but also not bad enough to be a pretender.

Probably will make playoffs, miniscule chance of winning it all.

Tbf they played 6 games in 8 nights.
And if you allow 99.9 points every night (26th ranked) - you need to make 100 points every night which ain't easy.

Very mediocre team that was overhyped by aggressive nuggets fans on here early in the season.

They kept talking about how from the point of "the trade" forward they had like the best record in the league or something. Well, in the end if you give up the best player, you lose the trade. Now they are a team of a bunch of good players, but don't have anyone to close out games.

They are in dire need of a star or they are likely an 8 seed in the playoffs (if lucky).
