Luke Walton for Ramon Sessions. Ramon's first start with the Lakers and gets a double double:

36 Minutes
20 Points (6-10 FG, 2-3 3P, 6-8 FT)
11 Assists
6 Rebounds
1 Steal
3 turnovers

(what's this dude's ceiling?)

Cavs were gonna let Ramon walk at the end of the season. He had a player option, and no way was he gonna stay for less money while backing up a 20 y/o star in Cleveland.

Cavs got a 1st round pick, will get to swap picks in 2013 if Miami has a better record than LAL (very likely), and Walton's contract means absolutely nothing (he has 1 year left remaining - he'll be a small expiring contract the Cavs can use; Cavs are aiming for 2013 free agency to add a piece, not 2012). That sounds better than getting zilch in a few months.

Deal worked out quite well for both teams. No doubt Sessions is a big upgrade over Fisher/Blake, but we'll see how long the honeymoon phase lasts with Sessions.

It was a nice deal, just like the Gasol deal was a good deal in the long-term for both teams.

According to RealGM it's not that the Lakers have one of the best FO's in the league but its apart of some conspiracy to keep the Lakers an elite team.

Said it since he was in Milwaukee, wherever he got the opportunity, was going to get a steal of a player. I wanted to offer him $7+ million when his rookie contract was over

Well, that wasn't the trade. The Cavs also got a first round pick.

Ramon Sessions is Ramon Sessions, but the first round pick could be anyone.

Sessions > late 1st rounder

2012 late '1st (deep draft) + upgrading 2013 Miami first (odds are LAL will have a worse record than Miami next year) > getting nothing for Sessions when he walks in the offseason.

How do people not understand this worked out well for both teams? And while Sessions is a very nice upgrade, he's by no means a star PG. Let's wait and see how long this honeymoon phase lasts. Sessions had big games for every team he played for, but it's never consistent. Fortunately he's playing with way more talent than ever.

good trade except if he keeps playing well he'll probably command 7-8 million this summer and with new luxury tax and a 75 million payroll they might not pay that, but he'll be a good backup plan for my Mavs if we don't land d will
