Why was the World Peace suspension only for the first round?

It seems odd to me that MWP is only suspended for first round games but then continues the suspension the beginning of next season. Why break it up? Is it meant to lessen the punishment? It seems like it would make more sense that players are suspended for whatever games they play next, playoffs or not.

				"only" the first rnd ?
as if to say it should have been more harsh ? This is the playoffs, not the regular season. key players missing 7 games in the playoffs is very meaningful and can alter your success greatly.

Technically, it could be between 4 and maximum of 6 because I think there is one regular season game included and it is also only for the FIRST ROUND.

				Why?
Because Harden purposley ran into Artest and got the elbow to the dome for acting a fool.

Umm. Am i missing something? Where does it say its for the 1st round only? Either op reading comp is bad or mine is. Yahoo, espn articles dont say anything about only 1st round. It says 7 games. So 1st game against kings, and however many games it takes in round 1. If lakers sweep then 2 games left for second round. Am i missing something?if lakers get swept, then 2 regular season games next year

dont know but local radio guy saying the same thing, only 1st rd, if it doesn't go 6 either way, Artest will serve the rest of the gms next season not into the 2nd rd.

The OP was clearly trying to say the Lakers will get swept, and so his suspension will go into next year.
Har, har, har. Dave Chapelle is back!

the only way artest's suspension goes into next yr is if the lakers don't play at least 6 playoff games. if the lakers lose in the 1st round in 4-5 games, he'll serve the last 1-2 games next yr. if the lakers win the 1st round in 4-5 games, he'll serve the extra 1-2 games in the 2nd round. its really not that confusing.

Wrong,
"World Peace will miss the Lakers' regular-season finale against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday and the Lakers' first six playoff games. If the Lakers play only four or five games in the postseason, the suspension will carry over to the start of next season."
