His daughter has eye cancer (or had). He suited up the day of her surgery late and played well after flying to play for Utah in the 2007 playoffs. Look it up it's a great story.

Do you really not know that Fish was being heckled for leaving Utah to live in LA so that he could take his daughter to daily eye cancer treatments that were not available in Utah to prevent the amputation of his 5 year old's eye(s).

I didn't know what this was about at first, but from what I recall Fisher may have brought this on himself.

He was under contract for Utah but used his daughter's health as a excuse to be released by Utah's owner, become a free agent, and sign with the Lakers. I am too lazy/disinterested to dig for in depth information but many people questioned why the only place his daughter could be treated was LA and why she could not get treated in LA even if Fisher played for Utah.

I remember Charles Barkley saying Fisher was using his daughter as an excuse. If that is accurate he is the one who is classless. Not that I would defend the other guy for doing that (nor can one from this pic be 100% sure what he's doing, he could have a eye issue lol), but someone who uses a family illness as a tool to get out of an obligation deserves the boos and any related criticism from the Utah fans.

OK sorry, don't worry I won't do anything rash like respond to a convo on a discussion forum again in the future. I will instead open up a new topic to get to the bottom of the mystery of Derek Fisher's release from Utah and a topic for classiness as well.
