What Do The Lakers Do Now?

Post#1 » by World Peace » Sun May 20, 2012 3:09 pm

Lakers are on the verge of losing in the second round for the 2nd consecutive season. Is it time to blow up the roster? Gasol's time is most certainly up as a Laker. He went Casper for the 2nd straight year in the postseason. Kobe as much as we all love him (Well Laker fans everyone else not so much) is clearly on the decline and you have to ask how much he has left in the tank. It's been said many times, but Kobe has played an incredible amount of minutes and even this season he averaged a flat our ridiculous amount of minutes. His contract is also a killer. He's got 2 years left at 30 million dollars. Good thing for L.A. is they will have capspace in 2014. Bynum will most likely stay. He's obviously immature, but he's young and hopefully he grows up. His name has been floated around in trade rumors for Howard, but Howard doesn't wanna play for the Lakers so that's not happening. There isn't another center worth trading him for. Sessions is clearly not a starting caliber point guard on a championship type team. There's a reason he's been bounced around and a career backup.

Sessions was fine as a starter. Brown ruined him and made him play the Fisher/Blake role, which really doesn't fit him.

Try to cash in Gasol to get a better compliment for Bynum and some depth.
Not much else they can do.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I think the Lakers do what they alwasy do, stay close to the top.
Lakers are looking for that cap space in 2014.
Kobe is still a great player(but he is past his prime). He stays fit and he can still help them.
Bynum will get a big new contract
Gasol will be traded
That is about it.

This team will be simular for the 2012/13 season.

But i think they are close to a ring then most people think. They could be easly up 3-1 against Thunder. I know Spurs are playing great but i think Lakers would have easyer time against them then the Thunder team and if Indiana or Boston is in the finals the west team is the favroit.
I think Thunder will win a ring this season and it is a close series with the Lakers.

The Lakers will come back strong again but i think they will realod for the 2014 capspace.
Kobe will sign a new 2-3 year contract but it will be mutch smaller, Bynum will get better and there will be space for a new star for the Lakers.
Lakers 72,80,82,85,87,88,00,01,02,09 and 10 champions

Forgot to add that Nash is a free agent. Kobe needs to convince him to sign with us. He'd take a paycut to win a chip.

Call Orlando, they might be a lot more receptive about a straight up Bynum/Dwight trade now. Maybe toss in sessions and swallow one of their bad deals. Get something for Pau, get nash.

Gasol's value has decreased because his play has been erratic since his girlfriend left him over a year ago. I don't think that he would fetch a high quality player.

Amnestying Ron does nothing for our cap space cause Kobe's eating up 30 million himself. Only option is to use our TPE, convince somebody like Beasley to sign and trade Gasol for something decent

Trade Gasol, try to become more athletic this offseason by acquiring pieces, fire Brown.

Get younger legs.

Blow it up and wait until the next great player comes along, and build around them.

They lost two games by 4 points and had the lead both times until the last 2 min. Counter the Thunders moves. Dallas did the same thing to the Heat in the finals. They would wait until the 4th quarter to spring their defense and discombobulate the Heat on offense. Durant obviously bothered Kobe and Kobe did the right thing passing to Pau who should have rolled to the basket for a dunk or foul.

Pau should know better next game.....
I'm so tired of the typical......

LeBron will be a free agent in 2014 and we'll have cap space.

Beasley would be a great fit for them. Def could use another scorer, but last time Beasley was in a relatively big city (Miami) he got in some trouble. LA might not be the best fit for him.

Start blowing it up. Too many bad contracts, and this team isn't going anywhere as presently constructed. For the first time since '05, it might be time for the Lakers to start thinking lottery.

yeah but look who was on that team, im not surprised he wasn't successful. Put him next to Kobe, hopefully a slightly more mature Bynum and i think he'll be okay

Biggest problem for the Lakers

2012/2013
27 million

2013/2014
30 million

Kobe's salary is gonna make it really difficult to make moves

we should make a run at KG, offer Pau for Rondo and commit to 2 years of contending while Kobe's salary is killing us

With Kobe Bryant on our roster that is simply not an option.
