So... should teams start asking about Dirk?

This is a shocking turn of events, but the Mavs have turned into a promising situation into what looks like might be a lottery team out West. At best, they might be a lower seeded team and win a first round series in an upset. This is not what Dirk, or Cuban, had envisioned, I'm sure.
I don't think Dirk will ever publicly ask for a trade. He's no prima donna, unlike some other "franchise players" around the league. Anyway, would it be smart for other teams to be pro-active and inquire about his availability?

Doesn't Dirk have a no-trade clause?

He can opt out if he wants.

Yes. I wonder which teams he would say "yes" to going to.

Pretty sure he does. I'm not saying he'll go to Milwaukee or something. I'm talking about one of the "glamour" teams.

Does that mean he can't be traded unless he asks so?

Yeah. He doesn't have to make it public though. It can stay internal.

Look how well that turned out for Dwight.
Edit: Albeit, Dwight made it extremely harder by prefering one team.

Dwight is an idiot. He made it public. That's why the Magic keep getting lowballed.

He'd never go to San Antonio. Sure Nash went to the Lakers, but Dirk vs San Antonio is worse.

Depends how bad he wants to win. Stranger things have happened. And especially in this age, it's an NBA arms race.

Boston for sure, he would be sick on the Celtics.
