since he played under Sloan (in Finals against Bulls), won a championship with Pop, and was an assistant with Pop, he will be decent IMO. I think it will be a good choice for the rebuild process. If they wanted Dwight to stay I would have gone with Malone or Shaw.

There is no way they keep Dwight Howard. Now that they have a head coach with no background as a HC the Magic can blow up the team. It's a good time to give him a fresh roster with no attitudes or expectations.

it looks like the person going by the name ChadEvansNBA on twitter had Jacque Vaughn being the coach 8 days ago(july 20th).
"Source tells me that Jacque Vaughn will indeed be the new Magic head coach."

We all know that this is a troll account that piggybacks on real reports by real writers. Funny thing is Vaughn was the speculated hire long before then.

Shaw and Malone are probably having an internal quarrel or two for not pursuing the Bobcats job with legit motives at this point.

Pretty much... He was our summer league coach. I know you got to start somewhere, but he wasn't even among Pop's top assistants. You go to the summer league because you are on the bottom of the picking order not because you are one of the best assistants.

Over his career, he averaged 4.5 points per game and 2.5 assists per game. He also set an NBA record for consecutive missed field goal attempts to open a season, missing his first 22 to start the 2001 season with the Atlanta Hawks.

and yet, Pop called him a great assistant and made a job for him, even though they didnt have one originally.

going to take a few years to rebuild the team anyways. If Vaughn develops great, if not they can get a new coach.

when do you require a great playing career to be a good coach?
plenty of great players that have sucked as coaches.
