Valanciunas can't get on the floor.

In 3 games with Lituania he's averaging 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in about 10 minutes a game. He is shooting well, 7/11 over 3 games, but notmspectacular.

What's the deal?

KemzĊĞra basically hates the kid. No other explanation for his rotation in the last game.

Maybe it's a different culture? Dragic used to play off the bench for slovenia a few years back despite being their best player.

Seems like the coach hates him.

I like to believe he's just not that good. He's 20. His time will come but he is obviously still just a prospect.

So is it because the coach hates his face too much to play him? or is it because the coach just hates playing him because he sucks? or is it because he's too good and the coach doesn't want to showboat his talents?

What team does Val play for again?

I haven't double checked a lot of the more recent games but he's having foul trouble. Beyond that, his coach, I believe, said earlier that he wasn't even supposed to be starting (which he is). He's a prospect, but foul trouble is fairly common for a young guy.

Defensively, with his length and mobility, he can really impact the game. If given adequate playing he will easily get 1.5 blocks 9+ rebounds per game... the kid is just 20 yrs old, has an NBA ready body and will be ready to contribute from day one.

Motiejunas doesn't even get a chance to be on the team and Valanciunas has to fight for PT. Lithuania seems to stress seniority rules with the national team.

I really don't think its that, because this year Lithuania is really thin on the C possition, but if you look at the PT of the whole roster only Kleiza plays more then 25 mins everybody else plays around 20mins per game. I poersonaly don't like this tactic, but it is somewhat usual in Europe. Still Val should play more, because IMO he is the second most usefull player on his team.

Not worried about the kid, he showed numerous times he can already play against NBA competition, it's just hard for him right now, to contribute much. Also, right now, his strengths are hustle, and energy, also the pick&roll, something they barely use him for. Those things will come much easier for him in the NBA, same as was with Rubio. I think his struggles are a result of team concept. He'll be all right.
