The mountain lion or the cougar is actually a fairly frail animal that specializes in ambush hunting. Like most cats, cougars are built for the initial burst, and lack endurance. If the mountain lion failed to take Wilt down from an ambush, it would surely succumb to Wilt's greater size, strength, and endurance.
