Why Drafting A Player like Cousins Will Doom Your Franchise

Demarcus Cousins aka the center Stephon Marbury.

Inefficient. Not very coachable. Immature. Terrible locker room guy. Nice PER 36 stats. Inconsistent.

This is a direct response to some people who would actually draft a guy like Cousins. The only place Cousins could help you win games is coming of the bench for a coach like Popovich or the 4th or 5th option on a championship team full of veterans.

Not to hate on the Kings but why do owners even risk drafting players like Cousins? Why do they continue to ignore highly successful models like OKC and Spurs by not drafting high character guys? I'm looking at you Wizards(pre 2012) and Kings.

Wizards finally figured out what we all saw the last few years. You don't draft selfish players/locker room cancers. Wizards went out and got some nice veterans who could also play and lead - Okafor and Nene.

I love what the Wizards did. Kings need to followsuit. Get rid of all your locker room/selfish players and rebuild. Kings will never be above .500 unless they do so.

Even if the Kings have cap space, do you actually think that any decent player will sign there knowing how immature their players are? If I'm a star and I have to choose between the Kings or an even a worse team like the Bobcats, I'm going to Charlotte. No thank you to awkward moments when you have to be in a locker room with a player like Cousins.

Hes not gonna doom a franchise. But if the coaching staff/roster/FO/owner are all jokes, he probably wont ever be the savior that your teams needs him to be.

He'd be pretty solid on a team with good management.

Players like him will essentially doom your franchise though. They poison the entire culture of the team and just lead to instability and discord. Meanwhile the front office will continue to be enamored with the talent and potential so the team/coaching staff/whatevs will constantly be in flux.

If you have a solid veteran presence on you roster with Garnetts and Duncans around then he should be alright. But Sacramento is full of immature youth, so Cousins regularly flexes his knucklehead antics.

Please do not ever make a post like this. You have no idea what your talking about. The only reason he had a bad rap was because no one wanted to play for Westphal. Any Kings fan knows this. As soon as Westphal left everything changed for the better. Cousins is a great player that just needs time. What Center do you know comes into the league and dominates. He is getting there. I bet you watched under 5 Kings games last season. Just because trash SportsCenter says Cousins is an immature guy and a head case doesnt make it a straight fact. Granted he is a little emotionally on the court but thats not a negative. Please don't ever post about something you have no idea about. GG

He meant otherwise.

Comparing cancers to their teams-- spot on actually.

lol @ Popovich having an impact on Cousins. It would be like Sheed/PJ Carlismo pt 2.
