Couple of days ago I read a list of the top-10 NBA highest-paid players for 2012-13:

1. Kobe Bryant (Lakers) $27,849,149
2. Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks) $20,907,128
3. Carmelo Anthony (Knicks) $20,463,024
4. Amare Stoudemire (Knicks) $19,948,799
5. Joe Johnson (Nets) $19,752,645
6. Dwight Howard (Lakers) $19,536,360
7. Pau Gasol (Lakers) $19,000,000
8. Chris Paul (Clippers) $17,779,458
9 (T). Chris Bosh (Heat) $17,545,000
9 (T). LeBron James (Heat) $17,545,000
(Bonus) 11.Dwyane Wade (Heat) $17,182,000

So I worked on a list of the: Top 100 Career Salaries of All-Time.

I included active contracts, so for example Blake Griffin has "only" earned $16,071,840, but on this list he's ranked 67th with his new contract (career salary: $101,894,045).
I though it's interesting, any opinions?

Times have changed.
A modern Detlef Schrempf would make $100,000,000 but he only made $30,000,000 - and that's not only because of inflation.

Joe Johnson has made nearly 200 million dollars in professional basketball contracts over his 11 year career...

(He'll prbly get one more smaller contract too before its all said and done.)

Dirk Nowitzki ranks 5th All Time in the NBA, with career earnings over $200+ million. And yet he has never employed a sports agent to represent him. He still doesn't have one. Every contract has been a handshake deal between Mark Cuban and Dirk's German coach/mentor, Holger Geschwindner.

That kind of money..( add it all up) is proof we live in a world that isnt integrist and based on greed and pride. Time to really question. Funny thing is..we all have the power...sadly we seem to be in awe of people who can bounce a ball and get paid enough money to shave economies in africa for it.

Sickening. All that money could have gone into far more useful things rather then mansions and cars.

Those asking for inflation: most of these contracts were from 10-15 years ago. This isn't Gone With The Wind versus Avatar. The inflation is not much. You`ll maybe have a few guys switch spots on the list and some fall out and some nudge in.

That money wouldn't go to Africa if it didn't go to the players. The players make the money for the owners, who in turn give back to the players with money. It's not like the owners would give $120 million to African countries if they didn't give it to Joe Johnson.

Amare, Gasol and Bosh are over paid. Not top 10 players

The rise in inflation does not compare to how much NBA salaries have increased. Wilt Chamberlain's 1969 salary of 250,000 would be equal to about 1.5 million today. I'm sure some of the guy's in the 90's would be ranked higher, but I bet that today's contracts make some of the 60's/70's legends sick to their stomach.

Interesting. Does that include salaries paid through 2011-2012, through 2012-2013, or through the length of players'' current contract?
