Can Denver win 60 games?

For those with insider: http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=8459464

He thinks they'll be one short and win 59 and finish 2nd in the conference (and 1st in the NW). He says Iggy will help what was a weak defensive team and thinks they'll go far of Gallo plays like he did last season before he got hurt.

More like can they win 50?

Which is still a major accomplishment considered how incredibly deep the West is this year and considering they don't have a true star player on the team.

I'm really a bit non-plussed on the Denver hype. They are a very young team, they lack a goto guy, they play the same run n gun style they have been playing forever and not getting great results, in a tough conference...I just don't get it. A playoff team? Sure. But a power? How? Why?

60+ I tend to associate with elite teams, I see more like 55-58

They are still missing that go-to closer at the end of the day. Iggy is talented, but he has never been that guy. Just dont see them doing much more than they did last season.

I would probably set their over/under around 54 wins. If everything goes well, Gallo further develops, and they can return to the defensive level they played in the 2010/2011 season after the big trade, they can get close to 60 wins imo. They're insanely deep and talented.

i'd say it depends on health, even though they might not be better than say the lakers. They can finish with a better record. Really just gonna depend on how healthy our key players are.(I'm talking about you Gallo)

I don't see this happening - the West is just too deep. I watched them during preseason and felt that their team had major talent, but no surprise, their lack of a star player allowed the Clippers backups to push them right to the edge. I know its preseason, but these teams played really hard.

I think they are one player away from being elite. Getting 55 wins would be a great result IMO.

They won 50 in the 2010-11 season, their team now is better than it was then so I see no reason as to why they can't win 50 or more.

As to those saying they don't have a closer, it seems like Lawson is gonna take that role.

They were the 3rd best offense in the NBA last year and just added the best perimeter defender in the NBA without losing anything on offense. I think people are overrating their frontcourt, but it's not that hard to see where the hype comes from. The 76ers were top 3 defensively without a shotblocker in the regular season and Iggy's defensive stats are pretty legendary.

clippers are fringe playoff team and lakers have no bench + gasol and bryant wll be tired from olympics.

As a Denver fan I cringe every time I see them getting overhyped.

They will bring a style of basketball that the NBA lacks almost everywhere else and really needs (non star-hyped, team oriented, fast paced basketball). And it will be fun to watch. I'm just going to keep my expectations low.

Denver is a very deep team and I see them being 2nd or 3rd in the conference. Only the Spurs or Thunder can outdo them in the regular season. I'm thinking they'll finish right around 58 wins.

Denver could potentially have 3 guys averaging 20+ points on 50+% shooting. Stat whores will be watching.
