Admittedly I haven't seen much of him play, but judging based off his stats it looks like he is one of the worst offensive players in the league. I guess he could be a sort of poor man's Serge Ibaka, good at blocking shots at not much else...but I'm struggling to see how a guy who is only 6'9'' with limited basketball skills can be a game changer. At least Ibaka is a reasonable scorer and still developing (as is Biyombo) but is Bismack really just a glorified Chuck Hayes?

BB is a project. His best case projection was Ben Wallace. His numbers, when given playing time, tend to be pretty good with rebounds/blocks. The problem is Cats are playing Haywood more minutes and you really can not play both of them.

The guy was drafted as a 19 year old
He plays for the bobcats (where their goto player is Gerald Henderson/Walker/Gilchrist... so no solid veteran presence)
He plays behind Haywood, who is also the person that he's going up against in practice... Kinda hard to learn offense from Brendon Haywood.

His style of play would never translate into box score numbers. Everybody knew that when he was drafted.

It's his defensive impact that he can have in a game. He has shown flashes of being Ibaka-lite, but there's definitely still time for him to develop.

You could call him a bust, only because Bobcats fans (or a select few) constantly compared him to Dwight his rookie season.

The bobcats are building a defensive minded team with Biyombo and MKG. Biyombo is a Tereke Evans type of player. At his best he could be like Ben Wallace. He is a hard worker, i'm sure he will be good in 1 or 2 years from now.

I wouldn't give up on him yet. He has a tremendous knack for blocking shots and could be an excellent rebounder and onball defender as well. At the very least I see him being a competent defensive player. But he lacks off. skills and knowledge of the game. If he improves in those areas, and he can be a very good player. Never a big scorer, but teams would rather their centers be good on defense and poor to mediocre on offense than vice versa.

This is why i love Realgm.

Watch the guy play, He has that rare ability of being able to block shots on either side, He's playing on a very weak team. if he was playing on Miami he would be the next Ben Wallace with the floor spacing.

If you are going to just look at the stats, look at the game logs to see what is happening. He has gotten over 30 minutes once this year when Haywood was injured and put up 6 pts on 50% 13 boards and 3 blocks. Twice he has gone over 20 min and played pretty well. Twice also he has only gotten 10 minutes and not done a lot. Big guys need to get into the flow of the game to be effective. I am not worried about him.

We expected him to be a project when we drafted him. He just turned 20 and played a lot better than expected last season. We expected him to be D-League talent last season. Instead he did this:

So apparently anybody not putting up 20 ppg is a bust?

Come on, everybody knew he wasn't going to be much of a game changer on offense. Why is it a surprise?

To be fair he outplayed Howard when they faced each other (you can checked youtube for highlights of those games). He did it as rookie and the youngest player in league. I guess it is called bust these days.

Considering all the positives about him (tremendous work ethic, great personality, high character) and that this thread tries to judge him after 5(sic!) games, I would say that learning new system under new coach including a zone defense may hindered his start to season (he had slow start last year as well). Still he scored a 13 rebounds game already. Too early to write him off. Funny that 6'9'' is mentioned again. His wingspan is virtually longer than anyone's not named Rudy Gobert.

How many years did Ben Wallace take to become who he was? Not saying he will be as great. But give a guy time, BC still hasn't given up of Bargs, now that's a problem.

Ben Wallace's defensive BBall IQ was on another level compared to Biyombo. I don't think he's quite as athletic either, but he definitely has potential as a defensive game changer.

I think his ceiling is Serge Ibaka.

I like Biyombo actually, and big men take a little while to work out an offensive game. Give him a couple more years before calling him a bust.

I dont like the Chuck Hayes comparison, Hayes is an amazing man to man defender, while biyombo is meh in that category. He's a good shot blocker sure, but as an all around defender he still needs to develop.

I understand the Bobcats wanting to win after coming off the worst winning % in NBA history but playing Haywood over Biyombo is ridiculous, especially with the upside that Biyombo has.

This is the backwards thinking that I thought Dunlap would correct.

Mullens & Biyombo could be a real solid front court.
