Celtics planning offer for Gortat

According to Przeglad Sportowy, kingjamesgospel.com is reporting that the Celtics plan to offer a trade to Phoenix for center Marcin Gortat.

To acquire Gortat, the Celtics would likely have to move a combination of draft picks, Avery Bradley, and Fab Melo.

Since breaking onto the scene in the 2010-2011 season, Gortat has proven to be one of the leagues best all around centers. He consistently racks up double doubles, while leading the Suns defense.

If a trade goes through, expect to see him start at center for the C’s. Kevin Garnett would move back to his natural position of power forward, and Brandon Bass would move to the bench.

Gortat’s main contribution to the team would be through rebounding, as he has averaged over nine boards per game each of the last three seasons.

The C’s have averaged a league low 35.8 boards per game, so Gortat’s presence down low would give them the needed boost to better control the glass.

Wouldn't be much to give up for him, imo.

The Celtics have no expiring contracts to offer the Suns so that makes a trade hard. If a deal is to happen, it must wait until at least the 15th of December when a majority of the Celtics players become trade eligible.

Ya except the Suns have no reason to do this trade. Gortat is better than anything Boston is willing to give up.

Bad trade for Boston and bad trade for Gortat, he'd rather go to OKC 8-)

Swap out Melo for Sullinger, and I think it's a trade that would definitely be worth it for the Suns.

As constructed, the Suns aren't a playoff team, and getting a very good young SG like Bradley, as well as a young big like Sullinger, and picks, for a player having a down year, who doesn't want to be in Phoenix any longer would be a good deal for them. Depending on Gortat's contract status, this could be a very good deal, as the young players Phoenix would be getting back also won't have any real harmful ramifications on their cap space moving forward. Phoenix may receive better offers, but this isn't a terrible deal for them at all...

Isn't Gortat a free agent after this season?

I guess I'm a bigger fan of Avery Bradley than most on this board. I think two young guys like Bradley and Sullinger (instead of Melo) still on rookie scale contracts would be very nice additions long term to a team like the Suns.

Fab Melo and Bradley are not worth Gortat. On the open market a few teams could do better than that. Sullinger and Bradley maybe. Although if Gortat is available OKC should make a strong run at him. Can do everything Perkins can do and a lot more. Lamb, PJ3, Reggie Jackson is much better than anything thing that Boston could offer.

Biggest reason why Ray Allen didn't want to come back to Boston. Because he knew that they wanted him back to use him in a trade in the future. He would have signed with Boston just to end up in a place like Phoenix as a salary filler.

I could see Minnesota getting involved. C. Lee for Williams gives Bolton a better piece to offer the Suns, as he was big in Arizona. Maybe even add inn Dudley and get a cheap serviceable young SG in Malcolm Lee aswell.

This noise was started once Gortat made a few comments about him not being a major focus on offense vs last year. If anything the FO will get rid of Gentry and get a better coach in well before they trade a guy as productive as Gortat for an undersized combo guard and Fab Melo lol.

Raptors offer Andrea Bargnani and/or Jose Calderon. Much better.

OKC needs to make an offer for Gortat too.

Perkins+Lamb+Jackson+2 first round picks should get the job done
