Is it safe to call these guys busts?

And by busts, I don't necessarily mean completely useless...but not nearly as effective based off of their expectation or draft position.
Busts:
Tristan Thompson
Jan Vesely (a bust, and completely useless NBA player)
Bismack Biyombo (still young, but mediocre rebounder and 0 offensive game so far)
Evan Turner
Wesley Johnson
Ekpe Udoh
Al-Farouq Aminu
Luke Babbitt

It's too early to call Thompson a bust. Especially given that he's only 21. He's a high energy player and could peak at something like 14/11. He's no all star, but he could easily be an above average starter
The rest are busts

Turner is sitting at 14/7/4. A very well rounded player at this point in his career I'd say. A bit below expectations, sure. A bust, certainly not.

Thomas could be a bare minimum walking double double imo and Turner is inconsistent but probably one of the best rebounding hybrid gaurd/forward in the league, is offense is inconsistent but far from bust.

I wouldn't have Evan Turner as a bust. He's played a lot better this year and if he got to the line a little more he could be a very good player.

only babbitt, wes johnson, and jan vesely are busts out of that list
ekpe udoh too maybe if you count who was taken after him, but he's still a very good defender

No one expected Thompson to anything more than what he is. It's not his fault Cleveland crapped the bed on a pick so high.

Neither Turner nor Udoh is a bust. Biyombo is a question mark. The rest? Busts.

tristan thompson is a very good offensive rebounder, he improved his game from his rookie year, has a lot of time to develop.
evan turner is far from beeing a bust, has a good season so far 14.1 points so far and good d.
biyambo is just 20 years old still has time but he's minutes are down this year.it all depends on him, how hard will he work on his offensive game which is awful wight now.
aminu is ok also
busts:
vesely is garbage
johnson the 4th overall pick, i think it's safe to call him a bust
udoh isn't improving much. i can name at least 10 guys better drafted after him.
babbit is pretty awful but i think nobody had very high hopes for a 16th pick.

Tristan Thompson- Depends on what bust means. Considering your interpertation, yes he's a bust. Cavs blew the pick by choosing someone who's going to be a good role player at the absolute best case scenario.
Jan Vesely- Bust. Guy is tall and can jump. Can't play basketball in the NBA.
Bismack Biyombo- No. This guy can be a very good player in this league.
Evan Turner- How is he a bust? He's been very good since being given a proper chance.
Wesley Johnson- Bust. Terrible player.
Ekpe Udoh- Terrible pick given that everyone were wondering why they passed on Monroe, and everyone were right.
Al-Farouq Aminu- Disappointing pick, not terrible.
Luke Babbitt- Bust.

Turner and Aminu are both solid players. Thompson and Biyombo aren't busts yet. I fully expect Thompson to be a very good role player (Taj Gibson type) down the road.

Where is Enes Kanter on this list? I mean if Thompson is considered a bust - then certainly Kanter must be

Tristan Thompson is not a bust. The only thing i can complain about is that he does not have a offense game at all and he overthinks things too much which result in him getting blocked. Varejao has been mentoring him lately and it's rubbing off on him..he's pure hustle, his post defense improve alot, he is a good rebounder, and he put on a lot of muscle. He is super raw on offense to the point it is embarrising though. he was drafted as a raw big, hopefully the cavs will have him develop a post game instead of a jumper.
I can't speak on the others because I don't watch them enough.

Good point. But I think Kanter will be a decent starter, If he can get minutes.

Kanter might be a bust too, but he hasn't gotten very many minutes in the crowded Utah frontcourt. He needs some more minutes to determine whether the pick was justified.

I posted in another thread that Tristan Thompson had 15 rebounds against ATL the other night. I wouldn't call him a bust. Not sure I would've picked a role playing defensive post presence/rebounder PF with the 4th pick but that 2011 draft was weak.
Turner is finally playing up to his potential. Again Philly should've picked one of the bigs over ET but he's not a bust.
I like Aminu. He's another role player but not a bust.
Udoh is another serviceable defensive big. He's a role player..not a bust.
Now Jan Vesely, Wes Johnson, and Adam Morrison are busts..no way to defend those picks.

That's all? Yeah not having any offensive game at all isn't a major flaw or anything...

Can a limp balloon be a bust? Babbitt was never expected to be good.
