Dark horse: Kobe Bryant if la racks up a very long winning streak once Nash returns. It makes a good story line especially with breaking 30k points and passing wilt on the all time scoring list sometime in January.

Perkins almost didn't play any minute away from Durant. Perkins was a 27 mpg and -8 net pts/poss guy. He had a ridiculous 28 TOV%. Thunder had a lot of issues with starting lineup offense outside of Westbrook and Durant(couldn't stop him from posting huge numbers scoring-wise), also Harden allowed Thunder to dominate bench play, which made Thunder less depending on Durant playing off that poor offensive lineup.

I see your point, but come on there weren't a lot of players +22 net pts/poss like Durant is doing now for this to be a knock on Durant's argument back then.

Durant has developed much more than I thought he would this early in his career. His rotations are crisp(mostly), he is making the sound passing play, he is shooting lights out, and his handle is getting better and better.

Some small nitpicks. He needs to play more physical, its his last big hurdle to be on the same with LBJ IMO. I feel like if he played with his body more(needs to get stronger) his impact will be better on the game. It will help him out with all the little things(fighting for lose balls, boxing out better, taking bumps on drives to the hoop). I also feel like he needs to tighten up his shooting motion a bit. He is a bit inconsistent with his follow through. He is already a great shooter, but if he follow through ed on his shot more, he would be even better.

Think he will win MVP this year. OKC will have the best record and he will put up 50/40/90.

As much as i am a believer of the lakers being a top team in the west when its all said an done at this point it is staring to become clear they have little to no chance at a top 3 seed. And when you have Howard and Nash on the same team it is going to be very very very hard to even make an argument for kobe

Duncan- Lets face it Duncan is not going to win MVP, he is playing about as well as you could possibly imagine right now and gets no play for it. by the end of the season he will be around 28-30 MPG and its hard to see a player winning MVP doing that.

That's like saying New York without Carmelo isn't a contending team. Obviously. You can't make up the rules to favor your agenda and player. If your making a comparison on teams without their best player then you must remove both teams top player. And then in the end the heat are still the most stacked team in the league. Don't let a few regular season losses sway you to another direction.

Knicks without Melo the last year has done very well!if you follow the Miami heat games, there is the feel that the team without LBJ isn't the same!it seems they can't run the offensive without him in the corte!
Melo is a great player in a good team,LBJ is Miami and Miami is LBJ!I know that it seems like exaggeration but it is the truth!
However,I think that Kobe will be in the conversation but the Lakers has to get the third or up place in the west.

Carmelo isn't heralded as a top 3 player in the league by anyone. He's had a good start to the season, but 20 games in isn't enough to jump him from a guy who's was 3rd Team All NBA a year ago and made no All NBA teams 2 years ago.
