GSW at 20-10?

So much for how the "terrible tanking" was going to create a "losing culture". Big air ball on that one, eh?

Called it! Didn't call it quite this awesome, but I did call it!
Also, Steph Curry should be on the All-Star Team this year for sure.

12-2 against Eastern Conference teams. They've been playing well though, and still don't even have Bogut yet.

We'll have to enjoy it while it lasts. Tough January coming up. Clippers 3 times. But I think they have a real shot at 49 or 50 wins.

Warriors fans have deserved a good team for a very long time.

Their extremely tough January will show whether the Warriors are a real threat come playoffs. Even a subpar January will be OK as long as Bogut comes back in February.

True. They always support that team.
I'm glad they are doing well. Curry is my favorite PG in the league. Love his game.

Golden State has won a lot on the road. They'll be fine.
Their point differential is worse than the Rockets, though, which speaks more to their habit of letting big leads evaporate than anything.

I thought they would be pretty competitive this year.
With Bogut.
Didn't see this without him that's for sure.

Can't wait to see what a healthy Bogut can add to that Warriors team, he completes a very well rounded starting 5.

Healthy Bogut would do wonders

They have a +1.60 SRS right now against a 2.07 MOV, feasting on their light schedule.
Warriors wins: PHO, LAC, CLE, ATLx2, MINx2, DAL (OT), BRKx2, DEN,IND, DET, WAS, CHAx2, MIA, NOH, UTA, PHI
They've got a couple of legit wins in there, but they've had a really, really light schedule so far. At the moment, their record indicates ~ 55-win pace, which I don't think makes a lot of sense for this team. They're a little above average at either end of the floor, and that kind of defines them as a team apart from their defensive rebounding. They're going to slow down in the new year.
That said, when they don't have to start Festus Ezeli at the 5 any more because Bogut's back, they're going to get a shot in the arm defensively (and, sadly, offensively as well), though at least Ezeli is hitting the offensive boards very well. 50 wins seems on the high side to me, but 45+ wins seems like a pretty solid bet, especially if Bogut manages to come in and make an immediate impact defensively for a significant stretch of games. Can't say I expect Jarrett Jack to continue shooting at his current torrid pace from downtown, but it's been a pleasure watching Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, and of course David Lee's having a fine season, Landry's doing his usual thing on the offensive glass, etc.
They're an interesting team, and it's nice to see them having success. Golden State hasn't been over .500 since the 08 season. They had more of a competitive advantage that season; they blew on defense but they were elite offensively, and that helped carry them. The Warriors this season need some kind of definitive identity as a team, either offense or defense, something more than just defensive rebounding. They've got the makings of an elite offensive team, so we'll see what happens, but again, Bogut... Well, he's not ever reliably healthy, but if they can play him like 28 mpg and get him to help bring some defensive focus to get them into the top 10 defensively, then maybe they can push towards that 50-win mark, yeah.

Their team chemistry atm is up there with the elite teams. Just gotta learn how to play smarter down the stretch. Really fun team to watch and I can't wait to see Bogut come back into the team to solidify the D.

They have won in LAC, MIA, and UTA. This can't be ignored and shouldn't be called as a fool's gold. They had a road heavy schedule as well. It's not light at all. Their January will be though, but it will be a cakewalk in the last 20 games which is important for the playoffs.

Mark Jackson for COY. He has changed the culture in the locker room. They play hard and believe they can win. And wow 20-10! It really is incredible to be at this point after 30 games. We're so used to being 11-19 at this point or 10-20.

I think their MOV is hurt by the fact that not only have they been blown out a lot earlier this season, they also have a troubling habit of giving up big leads (which bit them against the Lakers in round 2). Their last two losses have been close affairs though.

Well, MOV is noisy in general, I'm less concerned about the specific MOV than I am with the differential between their MOV and their SRS, plus what my eyes and team stats tell me about the quality of their competition, right?
In any case, they're a legit team, they've got playoff potential unless the West decides to go 08 or 09 on us, you know what I mean? I'm sure Warriors fans of all people remember how hard the West can be. 48 wins and the 9th seed was just... disturbing.

2008-2010 was pretty tight in terms of the playoff race. 7 wins separated the 1st seed Lakers and 8th seed Nuggets in 2008, and the case was exactly the same in 2010 when 7 wins separated the Lakers and Thunder (in fact the 6th to 8th seeds that year POR/SAS/OKC all finished with 50 wins).

Mama there goes that team!
I'm pretty surprise even with a weakened schedule. I actually thought this team would be good too, but with Bogut. Doing it without him and while playing 3 rooks decent minutes is an impressive achieevement

I know, it was ridiculous.
In 2008, Denver had 50 wins to take the 8th seed, the Warriors 9th with 48. In 2009, the Jazz at the 8th slot had 48 wins and the Suns had 46 in the 9th slot. In 2010, you've already posted the 6-8 seeds but the 9th-seed Rockets were also a 42-win team.
The Grizz and Hornets had 46 wins in the 7/8 seeds in 2011, the Rockets with 43 in 9th. Last year, the Jazz and Mavs both had 36 wins (or the equivalent of 44.7 wins, so basically 45) and the 9th-seed Rockets again had the equivalent of 42 wins. The WC is not easy, man, not at all. It's a rough time sneaking into the playoffs, there's a pretty small margin of error even early on in the season if you start digging yourself a hole early.
