I have no idea why he can't crack the OKC rotation, even in limited minutes.
Its absurd.
I'd like to hear from OKC fans about this rather than making an ignorant comment, but it seems strange from an outside perspective and i don't want to lump it on Brooks unless warranted.

Really? OKC is a championship contender. Lamb is an inexperienced rookie. He doesn't play much defense and doesn't really give you any "intangibles" that help you win. He needs PT for development so that's why he's in the d-league. Pretty simple.

He's behind sef and k-mart who are both currently better than him. So he would get few minutes per game and probably quite a few DNP-CD's so why not let him get PLENTY of pt down in the d-league and gaining lots of confidence.
With the new rules he can come up whenever there are gaps in the d-leagues schedule for him to come up and bond with the team and go back when there are games for him to get plenty of pt being the man of the team
Rockets have been doing the same thing. Knowing d-mo and jones won't get pt (they should our pfs suck) but they keep one up so they bond and travel and practice with the team and one in the d league to get pt with our system and to build confidence and they've switched them a few times

Too weak to play defense against grown men right now (coupled with typical clueless rookie D). He'll get minutes once he isn't a huge liability on that end of the floor. They even play DeAndre Liggins before him for this reason. Can't wait till he gets playing time though, one of my favorite college players.

i think the kids going to be a stud. my only concern is he doesn't seem motivated(literally i think its his facial expression), he needs to put on size, and be able to maintain his game with size. We truly undervalue the speed and physicality of the game at the nba level compared to college. When he adjust , if he applies himself. should be a stud

You serious?
He's a rookie playing behind Sefolosha and Kevin Martin on a championship contender. It's not like Sefolosha and Kevin Martin are scrubs. If Kevin Martin doesn't want to re-sign on a very, very cheap contract OKC will groom Lamb to become their new sixth-man next season. End thread.

Yes, im serious.
DeAndre Liggins has gotten nice minutes in blowouts, and Sefolosha has been injured as well.
Im not saying he should be getting 25+ minutes, but i thought he would see the floor more than what he is, in particular when they have found minutes for Jones and Liggins.

Would you rather your rookie be getting 40 minutes a night in the d-league or getting 5 minutes of play every fifth game or so? He gets called up every now and then to practice with the team anyways so he can get to know the guys and build some chemistry.

Okc owns their D-League team. I hate them but they are doing the right thing here. They might need him to play spot minutes in the playoff but he needs a lot of minutes to get ready.

It's just an unfortunate situation for Lamb. He was traded to a championship contending team so he's hardly going to get any minutes when the roles are pretty much set. I could have easily seen him flourish if he remained with Houston.

I understand why they arent playing him, but at the same time I think they need to trade him for a more experienced player that can help them right now. They have zero need for him. ANd i think its unreasonable to keep this kid in the D-league and on the bench all season and then expect him to come in and be skilled 1 or 2 seasons later. Alot of mistakes have to be made by rookies IN the NBA game, not in the d-league. He needs to get some pt, put up a few points to get his swagger gonig, but also make some mistakes to learn his limits and what flies and what doesnt. If OKC keeps him on the bench for the next year or 2 his confidence is going to be shot and his career will be close to over. I hate seeing good rookies go to good teams that dont need him.
I wonder how OKC fans feel about trading lamb for a peice that would be more valuable to them now.

I've never seen a player less interested and motivated when it comes to defense. (This was in Houston during pre-season games.) I can understand cluelessness at the rookie level, but it was more than that -- just a total lack of effort and bad attitude.

Wow. I never realized how poor the effort and attendance are in the D-League. Just that first steal in the first clip is silly in how unmotivated every player on the court looks even to simply move in the opposite direction. Yuck.

This is horrible thinking. The thunder are looking to sustain this high level of play for a long time and the best way to do that under the new luxury tax rules is to take advantage of rookie contracts and develop your young players. It would be stupid to trade the player that is their future go to scoring option off the bench for someone that won't crack their current rotation. Also to say it is unreasonable to keep him in the dleague and then expect him to contribute within the next couple seasons makes zero sense. The kid is gaining valuable experience refining his skills as a go to guy in the dleague and it will translate quickly to the nba.

Thunder don't use their D-League affiliate like most teams. Pretty sure they send guys up and down almost twice as often than any other team in the league. Reggie Jackson spent quite a number of games in Tulsa earlier this year, absolutely tore it up, and now he's the backup PG.
Lambs been on a tear lately, and the only reason he hasn't been called back up to the Thunder yet is likely because they are on a 6 game west coast road trip. 66ers have a game tonight, OKC doesn't play again until Thursday. Its extremely likely he'll be on the bench for OKC when they play again this week. Heck, maybe since his confidence is up a bit he might get some meaningful minutes in the first half.
At this point however, he's just in bad a spot behind Martin and Thabo. He has no realistic shot this year to take away their minutes unless someone gets hurt.
