Byron Mullens: What Bargnani was supposed to be

20/12 tonight. Since he's been back from his injury he's averaged 18/9, shooting 39% from three and 46% from the field. The thing is, he just turned 24 this past Valentines Day. Sam Presti's one glaring mistake.

He's a pretty bad basketball player, not sure OKC is going to be hitting themselves over losing him.

Stop making stupid topics, he is not good.
Empty stats.

That said i'm sure we could have gotten more for him but i don't think the FO in OKC cares much.

Not sure, how 18/9 is "pretty bad". He just turned 24 and never got off of the bench in OKC. Bargnani is "pretty bad". Everyone has been hyping Vucevic all season (and rightfully so) and Mulley outplayed him tonight.

How is he defensively? I never watch the Bobcats so I can't really judge him, but his stat line has been pretty damn nice lately

Average. He really worked on his rebounding this season. He must work on defense this summer.

Yeah, he's just another Scalabrine. Scalabrine was always getting 25/18, 20/12/,20/12 games.

LMAO @ Presti's glaring mistake.

Mullens is still trash.

The only team bad enough to consider a Byron Mullens shot a good thing is the Charlotte Bobcats.

Any player in the NBA can have good nights periodically, but he's a jumpshooting big man (and not a good one at that) that doesn't offer much anywhere else. He's a pretty good rebounder to his credit, certainly better than Bargnani in that regard, but he's definitely not any better a shooter. They're both average in that regard.

I don't know...I was just over at the Bobcats board, and a number of people there thought Mullens had an awful game. Because 20 pts, 12 rbds. and +34 is such an awful game. (snicker) Plus the Bobcats won. Mulllens contributing to a Bobcats win obviously drove the Mullens haters there (apparently most of the Bobcats board) crazy.

This is like Mar$wag Brooks being the next Kobe... I love it!
Wasn't there a thread EXACTLY like this with the exact same message "OKC/Presti's one glaring mistake" like less than a week ago?

We don't need a Mullens thread every time he has a decent game, he's a scrub. No one cares if he's putting up stats on the Bobcats, it's Mullens .... hell, it's the BOBCATS!

All jokes aside, sure, he's improved, but put him on any team with 2 other competent big men and he wouldn't even sniff the court for more than 15 minutes...

I do give Mullens something: at least he's playing in the NBA. For a former #1 overall recruit, he was unbelievably terrible his one season at Ohio State. I never thought I'd see him in the NBA.

The guy's still shooting 39% and 32% from three for the season.

I'm pretty sure Veal never had a run as good as Mullens has had in February.

Mullens is approaching average and might be better than average by the end of the season. When he first got shipped to the Bobcats, I remember reading numerous comments asserting he wasn't any better than Scalabrine. He was a total waste of space according to the "experts". However, Mullens's career appears to still be on a trajectory. He's turning into a good rebounder and a consistent scorer. He's even getting more assists. His onball defense is still subpar and needs a lot of work. But we know once a player is considered trash, he can never improve, right?
