Can the League Force Ted Leonsis to Sell?

Washington has had Ernie Grunfeld 10 years as GM. Yesterday Ernie Grunfeld traded an asset, Jordan Crawford, for essentially nothing. This was a vintage Grunfeld move.

--The same guy once traded the #5 draft pick, the rights to Ricky Rubio, for the expiring contracts of Mike Miller and Randy Foye. (Both left after going 23-59 one season with the Wizards.)

--Ernie used the #6 pick to draft Jan Vesely, when local fans polled preferred names like Kawhi Leonard or Kenneth Faried.

However, it is not Grunfeld's fault that his ineptitude has led him to a new contract and job security. The fault lies with Ted Leonsis.I can't say how I feel about Leonsis any better than to show this post from someone who hit the nail on the head, bgroban:

Is there any way fans can speak in a way that forces out both of these losers, Ted Leonsis and Ernie Grunfeld?

This website http://www.fireerniegrunfeld.com lists almost all the horrible decisions Grunfeld has made.
On the Wizard board, we have a thread called The Ultra Amazingly Sucky Ted Leonsis Thread

I love basketball and have been a Wizards fan for 40+ season. I think 10 years of Ernie and 2 of Ted have been very demoralizing. :(

Crawford may suck but Leonsis is a coward.

The Capitals were perennial cup contenders for a while under Leonsis.

You can go back even further to when Grunfeld was the Bucks GM. Don't forget that he was the guy that traded Ray Allen + 1st Rd Pick for a rental of Gary Payton's corpse and Desmond "I can only dunk" Mason.... :o Can't believe he landed another job after that abomination.

Donald Sterling's record was much worse, both personally and professionally. Never gonna happen.

Incompetence is not enough to force an owner to sell. If the owner is committing criminal acts that directly have a detrimental affect on the league there MIGHT be a chance that the league could force them to sell but even then it would be difficult

Anybody have something incriminating?

I would not wish anyone to be incarcerated, unlike Ernie and Ted when they called DC Metro on Arenas. I would like for something dubious to surfaces for some impropriety to force this owner to sell. Incompetence like this on Grunfeld's part could be coupled with some cause that would force him out if not force Leonsis to sell.

You can also add not trading Beal for Harden into the discussion.

I agree, if not for the Paul trade Sterling would still be ridiculed just another reason that Sterns veto changed the current landscape of the league. I remember when tons of people were saying that Blake would bolt.

The Maloofs also need to be in this same discussion, that Robinson trade just didn't sit well with me besides the other obvious terrible moves they have made.

What criminal acts did the Maloofs commit other than murdering the Kings Franchise?

if the league can't force dolan to sell the team after the whole anucha browne sanders sexual harassment case, I can't see them forcing Leonsis to sell.

Technically, the Wizards have improved every year since Leonsis bought the team.

In 2011, they were last in the division. Last year, they were fourth. This year, they're at third. At this rate, the Wall/Beal/whoever Wizards will leapfrog the Heat and become the best team in the Southeast Division in 2015.

It's not going to happen. I am experiencing some schadenfreude in the fact that every one of Leonsis' teams is horrendous. Hope he's forced to sell the teams simply because he starts losing money on them.

It's great: Redskins/Nationals: Both made the playoffs. Both have a great future ahead of them

All Leonsis teams: Absolutely screwed. No direction/vision, and no end in sight.

The sad thing is that Ernie isn't even the worst GM this year.

I'd take Ernie for 10 more years before I'd have Dell "I nearly traded CP3 for Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic until BASKETBALL REASONS bailed my ass out then drafted Austin Rivers with the 10th pick in the draft" Demps.

The system by which the NBA determines who picks the talent who plays for it is horrendously broken and has been for a long time.
