T-Mac was picked 9th and Kobe was 13th. Wiggins is (so far) the clear number 1 in a strong draft year, so no.

Wow bad analysis,

a) They were declaring right after high school, not taking the hype into college and developing 1 more year

b) teams were very skeptical about HS players back then

c) Wiggins is also that hyped, because there is much more exposure of those young guys and footage for everyone as opposed to 15 years ago.

McGrady and Bryant were not that raw at that age, way more developed and I would say also more talented.

Let social networking exist back in the mid to late 90s like it does now and I bet Bryant and McGrady would be just as hyped, if not more hyped than Wiggins.

This is a very stupid post... and that is saying something given that there are many that are posted on all the boards.

If I say something stupid... anyone can call me out on it even a ballboy. Hell... I once thought that the Kandiman would be a double double guy... and how did that turn out?

The idea that where you are selected in a drafts over a decade ago when there was a stigma of drafting underclassmen, much less high schoolers has any bearing on how players like T-mac or Kobe with their refined skill sets out of school would be selected now is, quite simply stupid.

At the same age TMAC had better ball skills( handling, vision and shooting), but Wiggins athletically is on the same level as Vince and Dominic Wilkins ...

Wiggins game is anywhere between Gerald Green to TMAC/Vince Carter... If he works on his handles, shot, consistency he is super star in league in like TMAC/Vince ..,

T-Mac wasn't even rated higher than Lamar Odom, in his own class.

I don't think either mcgrady or kobe showed the same level of athleticism in HS that wiggins did, not to mention just physically neither of them looked NBA starter ready. They were both very skinny coming into the league especially t-mac, not that wiggins isn't pretty skinny himself but he probably has access to better trainers than they did.

I don't think you understand how highly Lamar Odom was viewed coming out of high school.

Stats won't tell you that much. Different levels of competition, different coaching styles, etc.

Can anyone here describe Wiggin's skill set?

All I ever hear is how athletic he is... Terrance Ross is athletic too!

I'm sure he has to be good at something besides running and dunking though...

If a mod is going to call someone else's post stupid, I'll return the favor and say the mod just made a very stupid post himself.

Fans tend to overscrutinize current prospects and forget the shortcomings of past prospects all the time. There is so much 20/20 hindsight going on here it's ridiculous.
