Lillard Still Apologetic About Nash's Leg

“I wish it didn’t happen,” Lillard told CSNNW.com. “It wasn’t intentional. We were playing and we bumped each other. It’s unfortunate that it has carried on for this long. It wasn’t intentional. When we play this game, we sacrifice our bodies a lot and that just happened to happen in the course of that game. I’m just sorry for the whole incident.”

“I saw on TV the other day that someone said something like, ‘Nash’s decline goes back to when him and Damian Lillard bumped knees,’” Lillard recalled. “Man, I wish that wasn’t me that bumped into him. It’s unfortunate, but I didn’t mean to do it. I even reached out to him to tell him that I didn’t mean to do it last year. He’s had a great career, though. Hopefully he’ll be able to get healthy soon.”

Nice to see someone take responsibility even when it wasn't truly their fault.

Through that video, very encouraging that Lillard is apologetic, though he has no reason to be.

Lillard is a class act, and as a Laker fan I hold absolutely no ill will towards him. In fact I admire his game and demeanour.

As a basketball player imagining having possibly attributed to the decline of a great player. It would hurt.

To be fair, Nash was most likely done even before the injury. Even before that Blazers game, Nash had a horrible preseason and didn't look good in the season opener against Dallas.

Yes that the only way Lillard can make it up to Nash is by forcing a trade to play for the Lakers as the would only be reasonable.

Nah, the Blazers aren't a farm team for the Lakers.

You guys already have multiple farm teams in the NBA (or teams that went out of their way to help the Lakers):

Orlando
Charlotte
Cleveland
Utah
Memphis

I mean I don't think you need anymore when throughout history the Lakers have benefited from some of the most lopsided trades of all time. They don't always work but when they do they are huge for the Lakers.

Yeah, I not sure anyone really even blamed him in the first place (except maybe Lakers fans) but man, Nash has really been in a downward spiral since then.

If you want to hear more about Nash's condition I found this bit of audio interesting (starts @ the 25 minute mark).

Lillard is so cool. Just watched the raps/port games. How is a second year player so poised?

Lillard's a class act. Dwight can learn something from this kid about responsibility.

Lillard can be very classy. I forget what the story was, but I remember hearing something about him not being able to take a photo with a fan because he was busy, then when the fan told him about it on Twitter he made sure he was able to see the fan again and take a photo.

Pretty sure the kid saw him at the mall and tweeted to him about it. Lillard tweeted back and asked to meet him for a photo. I don't think you'll find many NBA players do that.

Not a Blazers fan but Lillard seems like a standup guy.

I can vaguely imagine what's going through his head though... "I put the nail in the coffin of a Top 3 GOAT PG"

He's so full of ****.

See how he treated the fans in Houston last year, innocent little kids. He tries to be too good in front of people, go on twitter to recognize some folks, etc. The two times I've seen him-- he's been unnecessarily rude to folks a third his age and even double his age.

He's not classy at all, he's just a scumbag. He likes to compare his life to the song by Drake-- Started from the Bottom. That just says it all.

He also told of a bunch of 8 year olds at All-Star weekend to **** off, no one has that on social media so let's forgive him. He also was literally the only guy not willing to sign the balls to kids for the Rookie-Soph game last year, and was disgusting towards the ASG crew.

Very good player, but I don't like this phony bull he's doing.
