Will Andrew wiggins be a great player in the NBA?

Post#1 » by three2theD » Mon Mar 3, 2014 12:49 am

I'm sorry, but I haven't really been all that impressed with the kid, considering the hype. I mean he's really athletic, but doesn't seem to have the skills of a guard or wing. As far as I've seen, he needs to dramatically improve his shot, ball handling and develop some go to moves if he's going to have success in the NBA. That and put on weight, if he plays the 3.

Better be ready to eat your words. Kid is perfectly suited for the NBA, definitely not college ball. Quick like a cat and flies like a bird.

Have you watched him on defense?

Disagree. The GM who passes on Wiggins will be doing a ESPN:30 for 30 and explaining why he passed on Wiggins. He will be a great fit in the NBA. Worst-Case scenario is a player like DeMar DeRozan impact-wise.
Handsome.

I've seen him play about 4 times. I haven't really studied him on defense. Is that his calling card?

If he becomes Demar DeRozan that would certainly be a bi disappointment, considering he's projected to go top 3, and they have been hyping him as the next great player since his H.S. days.

Worst case, he's Harrison Barnes.

Extreme best case, he's Tmac.

It might not be the most exciting comparison but think of Terrence Ross, except longer, stronger, quicker, and a better motor. He has DPOY like potential.

I don't know, man, T-Mac's skills were of the charts.

I see a lot of Paul George in his game. It took Paul George a couple years in the NBA to really break out, so I expect the same from Wiggins. A George/Wade combination is what I see .. But time will tell.

Dude will almost certainly be an elite level defender at the NBA level. His athleticism + defensive extincts are phenomnal. I think his worst case scenario is this years version of Paul George.

Paul George is absolutely not the worst case scenario. This is why I think he's being overrated. I keep seeing stuff like "worst case PG, best case T-Mac." No guarantee he'll be able to shoot threes like Paul. Jimmy Butler is the worst case scenario, maybe.

Paul George might not be that great a player, but he can shoot, pass, has handles and has a ton of moves. Haven't seen that kind of skill with Wiggins.

I agree. I'm saying Wiggins' floor is lower than Paul George

Didn't know George was so polished as a college freshman...

He's got all the tools, but we see pretty frequently that this doesn't always lead to stardom.
Six TOs in yesterday's game - yikes.

...sure would draft him if I had the opportunity though.
