The NBA issued a statement on Monday that a foul called on Dwight Howard with 10.8 seconds left in overtime during Sunday's game vs. the Blazers should have been called on Joel Freeland.

Where's the admission that Lopez's 6th foul should've been called a travel on Howard?

Anybody know why the league chooses specific calls to announce this on? Is there a specific set of circumstances? Does the team have to ask them for a review? How does it work?

Haha.

Yes this call was wrong. So were dozens more.

Like I said in the thread regarding the nba statement after the clippers game, what prompts them to issue a statement when in a sport like this, it's going to be multiple calls every game. Why single out this specific incorrect call?

lmao I can't believe they admitted to blowing this call but not the 3 or 4 blatant wrong calls that almost gifted Houston the game right before this call.

Does the league realize the refs are an extensions of them lol. Stop undermining the employees you hired. Officiating foul calls is all about opinions. It will never be fact.

Well dame fouled him shouldn't have been on Lopez

But that whole game should be thrown out and forgotten but blazers deserved the win

Awful officiating. Lopez shouldn't have been ejected

they were not just one call but a bunch of missed calls bad officiating last night even a blind person coudve done a better job and the nba still hasnt done anything about it. I think they should start penalizing refs for being so incompetent like in the nfl.

Well picked up NBA. I wonder if they noticed all the fouls committed earlier to that by Dwight when he had five fouls and no call against him.

It's basketball, fans can handle incorrect calls as sometimes stuff happens. Not much can be done unless we want to slow down the game even more and be able to review every single call.

Is the NBA going to release a statement, or maybe the Rockets, admitting that:

"Due to poor shot selection by James Harden the Rockets lost in OT to the Blazers. James Harden should have driven to the lane or moved the ball around to clutch shooter Jeremy Lin. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I love how selective the NBA has become with their "apologies".

Overall it was a game that was called bad for both teams.

How about Howard throwing Freeland to the ground right before that, where Howard got 2 FT's?

The reffing sucks. The refs are only human of course, but there are silly restraints on them that I won't cover since I already did that in another thread. Minimize real time decision making errors = better reffing.

Silver should issue a coach challenge rule, where every coach can ask for a call to be reviewed once or twice in a game.

the reffing last night was atrocious on both sides, but being that Bennett Salvatore was one of the refs. that shouldn't be a surprise.

LMFAO

THAT is the foul they admit to being wrong? What about the dozen bad calls against Portland before that?

I'm surprised the NBA didn't try to say the foul called on Dwight should've been called on Lillard and fouled him out.

So true. Why do they even admit it at all if they can't change the outcome?

They'll admit they were wrong and then go and make 20 more bad calls again tonight and apologize afterwards for getting them wrong.

This. It was a make-up call.

The league always looks bad when they apologize for bad officiating, but considering the DOZENS of bad calls that went against Portland, they look more stupid than usual. I don't really care who wins the series and I still couldn't help screaming "ARE YOU **** KIDDING ME?!" after so many poor calls. There needs to be a complete officiating overhaul.
