Sources have told Hoopscritic.com that this falling out between Williams and Nets management, specifically Nets GM Billy King, has resulted in a mutual decision between the two parties to split. Williams, and his wife, essentially want out of Brooklyn and King is more than happy to accommodate them.
Geltzeiler adds that this will be "easier said than done for King" considering the length and price tag on Williams deal, three years, 63-million dollars. "There's no guarantee that Williams gets dealt," Geltzeiler reports. "Both sides completely understand that the Nets may not be able to get rid of his contract in a way that works for the organization."

He's not even worth that much now. What an epic drop off from his peak.

One of the hardest to move contracts in the NBA. 3 more years and $60m+ left. If they move him, BRK will just end up with another bad contract and still have no picks. Dark days ahead for the Nets, if they move him.
To make it even harder to trade him, his deal has a 15% trade kicker. Yikes.

Can't remember the last time a **** player demanded to be traded. Aren't only the stars allowed to do this?

I used to really like Deron Williams game but I can't think of many teams that would be falling over themselves to get him now. Knicks would have wanted him for sure before but with Phil Jax in charge he might not want the hassle.
If this is real he needs an attitude adjustment to say the least, seems to be a prima donna PG. He didn't perform and should be looking to do better for the Nets rather than cop out.

Maybe if he played like he was worth 1/4 of his contract he could get traded. Who would want this bum?

The Knicks would have before Phil Jackson.
Donald Sterling... Wait never mind.
Detroit would... Until they put Van Gundy in charge.
Brian Colangelo would jump at the chance... What? He's not in Toronto anymore?
I guess nobody .

due $19,754,465 $21,042,800 $22,331,135
Chased away a hall of fame coach in Sloan.
About to turn 30
Put up 14.30 and 6.14
What maybe an average defender?
Oh but he wants out, and they are desperate to trade him. Yeah good luck.

the nets moving him would mean dark days? how so?
he is playing at a average PG level, replacing his production wont be hard. not to mention, we had a huge winning streak with him hurt in january.
He has the worst contract in the NBA. anyone we would take back would help clear even more room off our 2016 cap. right now its just dwill(23M) and plumlee(1.3M).
Even Josh smith would be a huge improvement both winning wise and cap wise. Hell even derrick rose is owed less in 2016.

Because it will be difficult to get anything other than bad contracts in return. I mean dark days mostly because they're probably going to get slightly worse by moving him, and still have no draft picks.

Yeah he makes Sacramento's Carl Landry and Jason Thompson situation look great.
But if you want to move him, that's a possibility right there by taking those two clowns, of course I'd rather keep them over his contract.

That's an Isiah Thomas trade right there.

Stan van Gundy is happy about it...
Josh Smith and Jennings already pack their clothes and look for cribs in Brooklyn
D-Will's game don't allow any requests though...
