Is letting Bosh go to Hou part of a plan to get Melo to Mia?

Before James took action and effectively caused both Wade and Bosh to opt out, it would have been impossible for Melo to come to Miami without taking a paycut that even guys that Lowry/Stephenson wouldn't be willing to take, no less Melo. Now, if James remains stagnant which results in Bosh going to Houston, does this open the door for Melo to go to Miami and for it perhaps to not look as "planned?" It can be spun as, well Chris left, and Melo was still undecided, and the stars just kind of aligned.
Judging by the elaborate and premeditated planning that went on in 2010, I don't think this is too farfetched.

Maybe, but if they let Bosh go and have cap space for another player like Melo or a few others, they would have to renounce some guys like Chalmers and wouldn't have the MLE to use at all, so I don't think it would be the best move for them.
Alternatively, they could resign everyone, including Bosh, to the max and use the MLE and bi-annual exception, not glamorous, but if they can get McBob in that MLE and make some trades later it is better than trying to fit a new team under the cap with LeBron's max.

That's what I've thought from the beginning.
If you're Miami and you have a choice between Bosh or Melo, why would you choose to give Bosh close to a max contract when you could have Melo for almost the same money?
If Bosh were still a legit big man, I might think different, but when he's basically transformed into a 6-10 3 pt shooting SF, why not just get the better 3 pt shooting SF in Melo to fill that role?
Bosh does bring more on defense, but with Wade possibly coming off the bench, they need a new second scorer to compliment LeBron more than Bosh's defense, and Melo is just a better scorer than Bosh.

In my opinion that's exactly what is going down. I think Melo & Lebron have been planning on teaming up for a while and Wade is fine doing whatever he needs to make it happen in Miami. They didn't want to cut Bosh's throat and wanted to make sure he's got a landing spot. Houston is that spot, Bosh can get his full max and the guys can execute their plan without feeling like they stabbed their friend in the back.
If they can do Melo for Bosh in a 3 team S&T they can resign all of Allen/Chalmers/Birdman/Haslam/Lewis, give both Melo & Lebron the max and maintain their MLE to sign a big like Gasol/Frye/McRoberts etc.

Bosh -> Melo is a downgrade, though.

not if Melo stays in NY
the problem with all these Melo to MIA theories is that Melo seems to be acting on his own....hes not in sync with Wade Bron or anybody else
my dream lulz scenario would be Melo deciding to go to LA and team with Bean......then Bosh accepts the max with Hou which prompts Bron to go back to Cle leaving Wade alone in MIA....but the real curveball would come when Don Riley refuses to give Wade more than 8-10 mill per year at 2yr

Well"sources" claim that Bosh has said he would take a discount to stay in Miami if Lebron and Wade re-sign. We've heard nothing about Melo being willing to take any sort of discount so I don't think it ultimately makes them better. Bosh + whatever FA signings they can makes with savings > Melo. Would be a bizare plan but anything is possible

It also initially seemed that Lebron was acting on his own in 2010...

If that's the plan, it's a really bad plan.
Melo for Bosh makes the Heat worse, not better.

Wasn't Lebron "acting on his own" in 2010 and then it turned out they had planned it all out in the Olympics?

Multiple sources close to me indicate that it might be true.

Their team wouldn't be better though and there is no way Melo is taking a discount.

bosh leaving and melo coming would make the Heat more undersized than they already are.

For the people arguing Melo is a bad fit, Miami couldn't have used his scoring in this years finals? What did Bosh put up, 10 points a game? If I were to put one player on that team in game 5, Melo would be in the discussion.

This would be a downgrade IMO. Aside from the fact that Melo is a terrible fit with LeBron and Wade compared to Bosh, Melo's repeatedly stated he wants the max, which means they'd be in a similar position had they given Bosh the money he wanted which is the position where they can't really sign anyone else.

If so then it's a really stupid risky plan with questionable upside. If they really wanted Melo to replace Bosh and knew Lebron didn't care about Bosh they would go after Melo right now
I think Bosh is highly overrated but the Heat barely improve with Melo in his place. Lebron/Melo/Wade/Scrubs isn't doing much better against the Spurs in the Finals
Not to mention I don't think Bosh makes a move until Lebron does anyway
