Dante Exum: How good can he be?

As the guys at ESPN said before Exum's first game "no more chopped up footage from four years ago -- we’re finally getting the real thing."
And we did. Exum is the real deal. For those that saw him, he was tantalizing. I realize it is the summer league but these international players are going to garner some extra attention because there is such little footage of them. Incredible first step and court awareness. He can clearly play PG.
ESPN:
Dante Exum, Utah Jazz | Grade: A-
Hype machine, activate! Comparisons to a young Kobe Bryant, Penny Hardaway and Brandon Roy were flying around after Exum’s first game, and his displays of smooth athleticism and skill were often breathtaking. Although there were better overall performances elsewhere, no one flashed more star potential than Exum did. With his vision and first step, he has lead guard written all over him.
Can't describe how happy I am that the Jazz got him. I think he is going to be a star in this league in a few years. He has plenty of areas of his game to work on including his defense, but he has all the tools and the swag you want from your leader. I wonder how good he can be.

He can be an all star at max. His downside is he can be a complete bust. you just never know with international players. I don't count much into summer league though?

You guys need to move Trey Burke and let Exum run the show at the point guard spot. I don't see those 2 co-existing with one another.

Said it from day 1, this kid has the boyish good looks that all NBA superstar guards tend to have, just like Kobe and Wade have. He has the name that flows right off the tongue. Kobe, Wade, Exum. Lightning first step, great handles and height. This guy has superstar written all over him.

I was thinking the same thing last year with Dragic and Bledsoe but it turn out well for the Suns. I think they can co-exist at the both sides on the floor.

I am ready to call it after one game.
Best player in this draft. Has 86% chance of being star. 69% chance of being superstar.
And I'm never wrong. I once declared Tyreke Evans the next Lebron James right here on realgm a few years ago after summer league. And then he gets 20/5/5 his rookie year. Proof see. Lol.

Love his change of speeds, love his burst off the bounce. This kid's going to be a star. Magic better hope missing out on him for Gordon and Payton was worth it.

Then he turned into Evan Turner every year after.

The main thing I took away from that SL game, is that chucker Burke needs to be traded so Exum can develop at the PG.

Somewhere in the middle between Brandon Roy and Evan Turner.

My point exactly! Lol. I have learned my summer league lesson. But this kid does look damn damn good!

Reminds me a bit of a bigger Tony Parker, which could be incredible.

Dragic/Bledsoe works because they're both comfortable being combo guards and don't care who 'runs the show'
With Burke/Exum, you have two guys who are really only comfortable at the 1. And with their duo, one guy looks like a natural point guard, and the other guy looks like a midget chucker trying to prove himself.. hmm I wonder what Utah should do here?

I really can't get excited with what someone has done in the summer league.

They should go for it and trade for Kevin Love. Then use that cap space for vets.
Big three: Exum, Haywood and Love
I love their coaching hire too! watch out for Utah this year!

I mean I'm a big Jazz fan, but I'm loving that we are calling him a star based on one summer league game and how his name sounds.

Sure hope he can be a star because the rest of Utah's lotto picks are role players. Needs to get stronger and I still don't think he will be able to guard the smaller guards. So they need to hold onto Burke for right now.
I mean in the West, can you imagine him defending any of these guys?
Tony Parker
Chris Paul
Goran Dragic
Eric Bledsoe
Russell Westbrook
Reggie Jackson
Damian Lillard
Stephen Curry
Jrue Holiday
Ty Lawson
Mike Conley Jr.
Ricky Rubio (whoops my bad, yeah he can guard him)
At the very least he's got 11 point guards from day one in his own conference who are clearly better than him. Good luck young fella. You're gonna need it.

It's not about the results, but what they show. Their athleticism, the way they approach the game, their mindsets, if they play hard, etc. We're not looking for polish, but potential.

Isn't Kentavious Caldwell-Pope lighting up summer league? That doesn't mean he'll ever come close to being a superstar.
