Hilarious chronicle of reporter trolled by fake NBA insider

Just read this hilarious story about a reporter with the name TSpence who claimed in his tweets to have NBA inside sources on the Love-Cleveland trade.

Turned out he was being trolled by a random dude who convinced TSpence that he was a member of the MN front office (no vetting necessary by TSpence) and had everything he said reported as fact. Amazingly hilarious bad reporting.

Just goes to show, just because somebody writes something on the internet doesn't make it true, particularly with this new breed of glory seeking, me-first, "journalists" who break stories without any legit source or really no source attached to it.

Anyway, read the story below. You'll likely get a kick out of it.

Tspence is not a reporter FFS! He is some idiot on twitter that throws a random rumor out every day and states it as fact. It is unbelievable how much attention this troll has gotten.

This is the whole point. He' not a reporter, yet his "inside info" get picked up by "reputable" sources, like:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11232 ... ny-bennett
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... Kevin-Love
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/reports-ca ... --nba.html

The whole system is a joke, as it all starts with some joker on twitter.

The ESPN report of Wiggins/Bennett came out after TSpence tweeted it on July 17th.

The guy is clearly a moron. I stopped reading when he didn't question the logic of the following trade that his "insider" said had an 85% chance of going down:

Min trades: Kevin Love
Min receives: Steve Nash, Kelly Olynyk, Julius Randle

Bos trades: Rajon Rondo, Kelly Olynyk, Marcus Smart
Bos Receives: Kevin Love, Kendall Marshall

Lal trades: Steve Nash, Kendall Marshall, Julius Randle
Lal receives: Rajon Rondo, Marcus Smart

He didn't think the balance of that trade was slightly off? Even said he was "pissed" as a Laker fan, despite them making out like bandits, while Minnesota got royally screwed over.

TSpence26 came onto the HEAT board before the Lebron decision was made to troll us fans. He stated that he has sources in the Miami HEAT FO. Now he is claiming that he knows what is happening behind the scenes in Minny and Cleveland? The guy is incorrigible... Please take everything he says with a cubic meter of salt.

Oh man, that trade gave me heartburn. He is a HUGE LA homer... so it seems from his twitter.

He also asked who GR3 is. You can't try to report on the NBA if you don't know who the players are or even how the cap works.

On the one hand he was having the best week of his life only to find out he was being punked, on the other hand he got himself on the radar with actual reporters and may end up with a real job out of it.
