Which position would win in a tournament of all time greats?

Take for example the top 5 PGs (say Stockton-Kidd-BigO-Isiah-Magic) and pit them against the top 5 centers (say Olajuwon-Wilt-Russel-Kareem-Shaq). Which team would win? Which team would win the whole tournament - PG, SG, SF, PF or C?

I'd Say Either SF/PF, mostly because they have the size, while still being able to shoot.

Not sure how this would work in an actual game, but I think the sheer volume of accomplishments and numbers at the C position would win out in a accolade vs accolade battle...

basketball is a team sport. It doesnt work like that. While you can probably put the top 4 sprinters on the same relay team and get great results, putting 5 of any position is going to be tricky. You dont see baseball teams put out 9 catchers or 9 pitchers on the field.
The closest you can get is medium sized guys who can do a number of skills. It would have little do with who they are.

Centers. really. and Guards would have better chance than pf/sf at beating them. Basically all-star center lineup means you are shooting outside.

Center wouldn't get across half court with the SF lineup

Really, who knows...?
That's why they play the games.

Small forward due to the size/shooting combo you can't get at any other position....if we are going off of pure top-end talent I would say the C position is better....unfortunately no center will be able to bring the ball up/run an offense consistently and the spacing would be turrible

You could imagine setting up a system where they pass without dribbling to get it into the post using their superior height.

Team SF most likely. That position is usually the most versatile while also maintaining a lot of size.

No
Melo allows them to guard 4s effectively and he's way more versatile offensively than Dr. J

It would be between Shooting guards and Small forwards. Both positions are versatile enough to score, assist, and rebound the ball.

Melo shouldn't be anywhere near this list. Dr. J, Baylor, Barry, Havlicek and others should go over Melo.

I go with Team PG. They can use full court pressure throughout the game and frequently gamble on steals. Most of the other teams will be too slow to take advantage of that. On offense, the PGs can get more possessions by avoiding turnovers with their superior ball handling and passing. Rebounding will be an issue though, but with patient ball movement they should be able to get great shots time after time. Also, Magic counts as a PG but he can play winning basketball as a Center

Play Shaq at PG. Centers take it easy.
