Is this Knicks team worse than the Isiah teams?

The level of dysfunction and the lack of talent... Oh my.

They started Calderon, Hardaway, Wear, Jason Smith and Cole Adrich after Carmelo went down

I just marvel at how they've destroyed a team that won 55 games 18 months ago.

What Isiah did was take a bad team and make it worse. The current management has taken a good team and torn it apart until nothing is left but this... thing.

Meh. If you're a real knick hater you'd actually hope they go on a mini run at some point to screw up their pick but still not look enticing for free agents. As it stands they could grab a top pick and it wouldn't be too bad.

Management changes but still owned by Dolan.

This team is about the decline of Amare. Knicks fans don't really talk about that much. The Amare signing looked good for about a year and a half. Pheonix knew his knees were bad. 100 million dollars for Amare was probably the worst move they made.

Signing Chandler, who is a good player, to pair with Melo and Amare made for a real unbalanced roster. Took Stoudemire's effectiveness away by clogging the paint. Remember how much better they played with Melo at the 4?

Dantoni signing was the other big disaster when paired with the "big 3" of Amare, Melo, Chandler. That team was meant for a more half court game imo. They didn't have the PG or 3 point shooting to make it work...

So Walsh comes in, cleans up Isiah's mess, then they dump Walsh and create a whole new mess. This team never learns.

Tip for Phil: Keep your draft picks, and don't sign any injured players to big deals. Build a team that "fits" meaning the main guys games actually compliment each other. Don't let a coach (or you) ram a scheme down the teams throat that doesn't fit the personel.

Overall, just be better...

The Isiah teams always had talent. Believe it or not, Isiah is one of the best drafters ever.

“Thomas put up an outstanding hit rate in the draft, no matter where he picked. His run of lottery picks in Toronto should be the stuff of lore. He started off by getting Damon Stoudamire with the No. 7 pick in 1995. Then with the No. 2 pick in 1996, he grabbed Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Camby. The following year in 1997, he nabbed some high schooler named Tracy McGrady at No. 9.

“... Thomas' average pick was the 23rd slot, but the talent he found was more like picking at sixth every year. That's an absurdly good return. The irony is that Thomas never quite grasped the value of draft picks; he couldn't wait to get rid of them, despite his overwhelming success on draft day.”

So Thomas’ picks of Lee (No. 30 in 2005), Ariza (No. 43 in 2004), Chandler (No. 23 in 2007) and Robinson (No. 21 in 2005) boosted his resume.

This Knicks team is not only is void of talent, they're organizationally dysfunctional and inept as well. So yes, they are worse than the Isiah teams. I don't believe the Phil Jackson hype.

Good points with Zekes drafting, that's an excellent record. Probably true for many maligned GM's, their talent identification is very good they just have no idea about fit.

Will be interesting to see how Phil goes with a high draft pick. I expect the results will be good but free agency will be plenty of lols.

what zeke did wrong was trade future unconditional draft picks for eddy curry. those picks could have netted them aldridge and noah.

Phil had to tear it down to build it back up. You have to at least let him get rid of the bad contracts he inherited before you judge him. He's not repeating the same mistakes. He's grabbing a lotto pick this year. He's letting his immovable expiring contracts actually expire instead of trading them for different bad contracts. He took over a dumpster fire, retained Melo, and is letting the fire burn out. Judge him after he's actually had an opportunity to build a team.

They have a payroll of 90mill with a winning percentage of .152. That has got to be some sort of record surely.

Could have had Lowry for Felton.

instead they get... a 20 win season.

Signing Melo to that ridiculous contract is going to kill them for the next five years. They had a nice oppurtunity to darft a nice oppurtunty to just leylt him go and move on. They should still get a nice player out of the draft this year but they could have had alot of cash this summer to really fill out a nice complementing roster this summer from the bench to the starting unit. They need to hope like hell for Okafor right now.

This. Part of the reason they're so **** right now is that Isiah traded all of their picks for complete garbage. Sure he could draft but who the **** cares when you don't have picks to stack talent. This team could be Aldridge, Noah and Melo right now. Best front court in the league that perfectly complement each other.

Honestly I think they are better tanking out this season and landing a great 19 year old big man like okafor instead. No doubt Lowry is a stud but I dont think it would have been nowhere near the kind of success in wins like the Raptors are doing with that deep roster. it's really not the end of the world that they missed out on that trade. Okafor is going to be a top big man right out the gate. His low post scoring is already boderline amazing.

I think the worst move they made was Dolan trading the cow and the farm for Melo when all they had to do was coax Anthony into signing with them and use the assets traded for him on CP3. Don't forget that they wasted the amnesty on Billups when all they had to do was decline his team option when that amnesty was absolutely perfect for Amare's decaying body.

The 2014-15 Knicks are on pace to become one of the worst 10 NBA teams in history - and the worst Knicks team in history.

Mad respect for Knicks fans who are still watching this train wreck, I would just ignore the entire NBA until draft night, plain and simple.

I don't think there is any Knick team in history that this squad isn't worse than tbh.
