As if they were getting into the playoffs anyways. This is better. Lose games, get a high draft pick. Try again next year.

Boogie wants out. I'm sure there's some team out there willing to trade and take a chance on him

Players don't forget stuff like this. Cousins won't forget this when his FA is approaching.
And remember that SAC didn't give him a 5yr max extension like his fellow 2010 draftees (Wall, Paul George, etc).. only 4 years.

Except this type of stuff is demoralizing, sets back player development, and creates an undesirable environment for free agents or the franchise player(s) that's already there.
Yes, lottery picks are cool, but sucking forever tends to be counter productive.

His words were "We're not the same team." Hate to nitpick, but the title is a misrepresentation of what was actually said. On top of that, pretty much everyone realized the potential impact of that decision, considering the situation with cousins. It certainly didn't take anybody by surprise.

I wonder if their owner realizes he screwed up big time by firing him.

they've been doing that for years, they already have their franchise player and are doing a bad job building around him

Cousins is an overemotional mess and the Kings aren't helping him over come those problems one bit. It's like they've been reading a guide line on how to set off your moody franchise star or something. It doesn't help that all his former Kentucky teammates are in better situations while he's still on the a team with no real sense of direction.

The arrogance of some of these tech guys is astounding. Just because they were innovative and often lucky in one field does not mean it will transfer, but almost all of them think that it will

Ending up 9th or 10th out of a playoff spot, losing out on a high draft pick and being in the exact same position next year is also quite demoralizing.

But with good coaching, continuity, and player development, they might not be in the exact same position. There are several examples of teams becoming very good by simply improving each year (Grizzlies, Warriors, Raptors, Pacers, Wizards) instead of constantly hitting the reset button.

it also doesn't help when your best player sulks and only gives 30% effort.. just saying

Not that I'm a fan of any city losing a team, but this I thought the new owners were supposed to be better than the Maloofs, I wonder if this drama would be going on if they'd be in Seattle by now.

Sounds like Cousins did not confirm nor deny the question and just evaded it.
Not a convincing affirmation of the question; i'd probably retitle the thread.
