Reports: Rockets & Lakers Persuing Trade For Goran Dragic
Posted: Thu Feb 12, 2015 5:13 pm

The Houston Rockets are hoping to engage the Phoenix Suns on a trade for Goran Dragic.
If the Rockets are unable to trade for Dragic before the deadline, they plan on pursuing him in free agency. Dragic was let go by the Rockets in the 2012 free agency.
The Los Angeles Lakers also plan on testing the Suns' resolve. Sources say the Lakers plan on offering Dragic a four-year, $80 million max contract this summer.
The Suns' general stance in recent weeks and months has been to rebuff all trade interest in Dragic. But the Suns have also been attempting to gauge their chances of re-signing Dragic in the offseason.
Eric Bledsoe was re-signed last offseason on a five-year, $70 million contract, while they also have Isaiah Thomas on a three-year, $27 million deal.

Rockets need to get in on this ASAP. Complete the roster and get a big PG that can play off-ball alongside Harden.

inb4 the Game6 hates trolls in...
Well... I wish we could. But I doubt Pat gives a first [round pick] for 1/2 season rental.
Still looks good ( on paper )
Goran/Wade/Deng/Bosh/Whiteside
--Bench still sucks RIO/TJ/UD/Birdman. If only McBob wasn't injured, then it would help greatly.

Does the team that lands him secure his bird rights, and thus, can offer him more dough than anyone else in the summer?
If so, maybe one of the possible teams that'd be interested in him come the off season, can beat the competition and acquire him now.
Celtics might get in on this

Letting go of Dragic would be a mistake imo. One of the most underrated guards in the league. You can still somewhat maintain your style of play for small ball with a Dragic/Bledsoe backcourt but signing Thomas too was overkill. In an ideal world with no salary cap, sure sign as many PGs as you want but Thomas was redundant and did not serve an area of need as much as adding size would have helped.

Deal. Heat would have a complete starting lineup.

Would be a godsend to the Hornets. I think they'd be willing to do it in hopes of getting a leg up on paying him bigtime in the offseason. Would be all over Lance + 1st for Goran.

Too bad he has no room here. As much as I like Parker he is a better play as of this moment and I'd rather have him starting tbh

This seems like it has the rockets all over this but I can't see the sun's, sitting in the 8th seed in the west, giving up on the season and taking on the bad pr of trading dragic.
Btw.. keep dreaming miami.. the Sixers owe your pick this year so I doubt the sun's would take a 2017 1st rounder even if it might be a really good pick with a declining wade and bosh

Len/Wright/Plumlee
Morris/Morris
Is not too shabby. Len has looked really good at points this season too.

Wow they'll be selling really low on him. Whoever gets Goran is going to get a great player.

It's a 2-3 month rental for a first round pick, it might actually be selling high depending on the range of the pick.

Do Bird rights come with that trade? If so, seems like a great opportunity for some playoff team wanting an PG upgrade.
Let's say Houston gave up a 1st, and got Bird rights. They would go well over cap to re-sign him, but take less of a hit when the cap goes up in a couple of years.

Yes they do.
As a Slovenian and huge fan of Dragic I absolutely hate that he has to make all the sacrifice in Phoenix and can't wait till he gets traded, he is a PG! If not traded, I just can't wait till he bolts out of that backcourt mess. I really thought Bledsoe and Dragic would be special this year but McD destroyed it with Thomas. Terrible offseason for the Suns in 2014.

Isaiah Thomas is a destructive little dude. I felt like he came into Tyreke's town and chased him out of Sacto. Then he comes into Goran's town, and chases him out of Phoenix. I'm just not that into 5'8" SGs I guess.
