A few years ago they seemed to have a bright young gm who was rebuilding and collecting young players draft picks etc

Then they overachieve in a year where they looked like they were rebuilding which seemed to get them impatient and they've been chasing an 8th seed ever since.. Doing all types of weird things from hoarding pg's to giving up a huge asset in the lakers pick for Brandon Knight to signing a broken down Tyson Chandler..

Now they're stuck as a treadmill team which is the worst place you can be in the nba..Are they gonna continue to put all their chips in on players just to desperately be a bottom seed playoff team eventually? That seems to be the direction

They have had some bad luck with injuries.
And signing chandler put them in the running for Aldridge

They really should have traded for Pau gasol from the lakers.

I respect that they are trying instead of just tanking. Never count them out.

Looks like they are set up for a top 5 pick this year which will help

Actually, it did make a difference according to Aldridge. The Suns went from having no shot at Aldridge to being a team that actually made him stop and look.

Tyson isn't a guy that'll hurt you. He's good to have around, even if just as a veteran presence. The thing that raised eyebrows was the length of the contract. I didn't think he'd get more than 3 years from anyone.

This. With the exception of Devin Booker drafting (who looks like a stud) all of their decisions are headscratching at best.

Outside of blaming Horanek for everything, it's pretty obvious they don't have a plan.

They should just tank this year, and get as high of a pick as possible.

Hopefully push the Lakers down to 3 or 4.

at this point, their plan for this season should be trade away Markieff and Chandler and tank. And I actually like Hornacek, he hasn't been the problem for this team's bad moment

Well I think you nailed the history of it. They don't really have a plan any more I'd say. The money they've only just invested they aren't likely to just throw away, so they'll keep trying this for a while and then either they'll catch lightning in a bottle or they'll end in a whimper.

There are surely multiple people to blame for all of this, but to me this is one of those issues you're much more likely to have with an owner who won't mind his own business.

There is no plan. Its a reactionary method of player acquisition. fluffed up by two sister kissing runs in free agency. The media is finally asking WT? is going on... as he spews the same positive perfume about being 3 games out of the playoffs. Meanwhile, if not for an injury, he'd still be championing the two almost PG line up of Bledsoe and Knight and we'd (Suns fans) would be subject to watching everything an offense shouldn't do in half court. If not for the recent play of Warren and Booker, there would be no joy in mudville tonight.

Booker and Warren look like they could be good wings in the future, and if Bledsoe would stay healthy they would have 2 good young guards with him and Knight too. They need to get rid of Morris, Chandler, and Tucker though.

The brass are still stubbornly committed to the dead end strategy of conbuilding. After the 12-13 season McDunoh inexplicably went all Dexter the Mad Scientist with his tinkering not realize that if it ain't broke don't fix it. That season was irreplicable Fool's Gold predicated on the pick n' pop offense facilitated by Dragic and Frye and was not a sustainable formula for success anyways. They caught a flash in the pan with the "dual playmaker system" and signed IT to give them the "Three Headed Hydra" promotional gimmick which fell apart when they could not co-exist. He has made several shortsighted lateral moves to save face only to reinvent the wheel and remain in the bowels of purgatory.

With a scouting pedigree , McDunuhoh has proven to be a decent talent evaluator finding some gems in the late lotto but has unable assemble a functional roster to save his life.What he have here is an incompatible conglomerate of expendable assets held together by super glue . The incessant turnover has prevented the development of any continuity or chemistry. As a protege of Ainge he is hoping to acquire that ever elusive franchise cornerstone via trade by consolidating trinkets into a package, but he doesn't have the wa rchest to land the big fish. At best he is a used cars salesman peddling off damaged goods. But really all we have to show for is discarded 'borderline All Star" castaways who could never find a home like Knight who is a perennial Shaqtin a Fool nominee and on his third team for a reason. That Laker pick was only Top 3 protected through 2017 and would go unprotected if not conveyed to us by then. Ouch

Sarver only cares about is turning a profit, waving the finger-foam from the sidelines gunning for the playoffs to sell tickets. His meddling has prevented us from naturally bottoming out. After missing out on the playoffs for 5 consecutive years behind the eight ball and have a lot of ground to catch up to the teams with formidable young cores(Minny,Utah,Milwaukee even Orlando). Queef is a lockeroom cancer and the situation has only been escalated with the FO sitting on their hands refusing lowball offers.He may have his contract voided depending on his verdict

Warren was drafted before IT signing IIRC. And yes, he can play.
