Nikola Jokic, the rookie big nobody knows about

Post#1 » by youngthegiant » Mon Jan 18, 2016 7:04 am

Nikola Jokic has really emerged as a legitimate prospect, his passing ability is absolutely ridiculous, great IQ and nice shooting stroke.
If you haven't seen him play check it out, if you have, what do you think his ceiling is? Also, his "real"no look pass has to be the best of the year.

You mean all 6 posts from this one. 3 of which come from Nuggets posters. Yeah nope, no justice done.

If it's determined that Jokic, Nurkic and Lauvergne are all centers and don't play together effectively, which two does Denver keep?

Nurkic projects to be the better player IMO

Brad Miller/Mehmet Okur sounds about right.

Definitely know this guy cause he always rips my Wolves a new one. I love his game and I think his ceiling could be Al Horford with better passing skills.

He was compared with the Gasols when he came over and I can see it, he is one of the best passing big men I have seen in a very long time and he can score from the interior and perimeter, and while it is still not there he is improving on defense. I am interested in seeing where he develops over the next couple of years, and am very happy they signed him for the 4 years. It is funny to me how it seems like so few know about him when they act all knowing, in fact few know about many of the young talents on the Nuggets or what the Nuggets are up to, which is fine as they will start taking people by surprise over the next couple of years.

One other thing i would like to add. You could see the difference in defenses once they started moving Jokic up the scouting reports, he is already drawing double teams. However with his court vision and passing ability he has been making teams pay for doubling him. Not many 20 year old perimeter players can handle doubles the way Jokic can being a 20 year old big man.

I like the Horford comparison for Jokić.

I want to see Nurkić and Jokić play together first because I don't think they'll be able to defend other bigs well. Jokić is a perfect 1st big off the bench. Not that high on Joffrey but I think he should have a solid role in the rotation. Dragan Bender would be good for Denver.

Harris | Barton
Rockets pick
Bender | Joffrey
Nurkić | Jokić

Why is every Euro player named Nikola these days? Do they have any other names?

His advanced stats are really impressive...

If you are dead serious than you need to look at other rosters around the league. The Nuggets have Danilo, Jusuf, Joffrey, and they had a Kostas in addition to 1 Nikola on their roster. I can only think of 2 Nikolas on NBA rosters at the moment, Mirotic and Jokic, but I may be missing one or two.

This guy is a baller. Nuggets have some intriguing pieces. If Nurkic can get healthy, they get one more wing who can ball (to go with Danilo, Barton, healthy Chandler and improving Harris), man they will be a damn problem. I like that they Nuggets have taken the long approach with this season. Playoffs is great, but development is important.

Jokic and Nurkic are going to be hard to keep for both though over the long-term because they are both centers and both are good and will want to play.
