The bottom line is..…
A) KD good friends with both Melo and Fisher
B) KD respects Porzingis game and praises him
C) KD father a huge Knicks fan
D) KD agent been very chummy with the Knicks FO of late

Then again maybe its just wishful thinking? But if Durrant was to sign this offseason with the Knicks, where would you rank the Knicks in the EC?

He Would lose alot of money if he doesnt sign 1 year plus option with OKC.

"as free agency looms" The all-star game hasn't even happened yet, free agency is far from looming.

The author of the article does thank you for falling for his hyped up click bait reporting to get him more views.

If the thinking is he needs to opt out again in a year, then the only difference between a 1 year deal in OKC and a 1 year deal in NYK is:
-- the 7.5% raises on the follow up contract (if and only if he stays on OKC after that 1 year deal)
-- The 5th year (6 years from now) as part of the original (2nd) contract (if and only if he stays on OKC after that 1 year deal)

That 5th year is a very big number, but to say he loses out you need to assume that Durant, stays on OKC again in a year, and is worth a 5 year deal in a year (so counting on a contract that he won't get this offseason) and in 4 years isn't worth a 1 year deal worth that pays as much (so then not counting on a future contract).

He plays Brooklyn. Article on KD to the Nets surfaces.
He plays the Knicks. Same thing.

It's what always happens before free agency.

Everyone praises Porzingis because he's a good player, how is that unique to Durant?

Not sure I see it, but I also wouldn't be shocked. The Knicks have done a great job reshaping the team and the superstar that is able to pull them out of their funk and lead them back to consecutive deep playoff runs (and even win a championship) will be praised around the world. Knicks have generally 'sucked' for like 2 decades.

If Durant goes to New York and brings them a chip he will go down as one of the best ever (and probably be ranked higher than he should based on the fact he helped New York).

I think he resigns in OKC.

It's unlikely but if it did then New York should celebrate Phil Jackson day.

There's a better chance that the Pope wanks me off than KD coming to NY.

I was thinking the exact same thing after his most recent praising of Zingporis

And those are some very good reasons to join the Knicks so yeah I'd say there is a decent chance he winds up there.

(I was kinda hoping myself that KD would view Myles Turner of the Pacers as the unicorn of great shooting with great rim protection but hey, Indiana ain't New York, so I'm not getting my hopes up too high).

Players like to play with other good players that they think of as maybe the next big thing and Kristaps might as well be that guy.

Unless OKC beats the Warriors and Spurs this year, KD should be thinking of joining the future champions and frankly those odds are higher in NY. They got the money, they got the unicorn. OKC has the present and past, but the future is what really should matter when you sign a new contract.

I feel pretty knowledgeable about the salary cap, but if he were to sign a 1 year deal with any other team couldn't he then just sign a 5 year max with them the next year with the cap hitting over 100 million? How long do you need to be on a team before you can be offered a 5 year deal with max raises?
