matthews and parsons were both just consolation prizes for a mavs franchise that hasnt been able to attract big name players. Matthews drop has been significant from arguably a borderline all-star caliber player to being a role player at best.
Roll player? Hah! I wish. Matthews is arguably the *worst* starting SG in the NBA. Has the 2nd worst FG% of any starting SG (behind Kobe). Literally *all* he can do is shoot threes. Emphasis on shoot, because he misses them usually. Can't drive, can't pass, can't rebound. Post-up game is gone. Horrible at fighting through screens, and is at very best an average defender. ACL injury ruined him.
Parsons is solid to good, but still highly inconsistent.
Deron...below-average starting PG.
Lee...been very good, but he couldn't even get PT on GS or Boston.
That's it. Literally.
The rest of the players getting minutes are trash that wouldn't crack a second on a playoff roster...JJB...Felton...Zaza...Harris...Powell... :banghead
zaza and jjb would gets minutes. The rest probably wouldnt get minutes, I agree.
Yea thats why I said role player at best. He has struggled. It's strange, cause he never really relied on his athleticism before his injury
Nah, Zaza is done. Jumpshot abandoned him this year, he ruins spacing, and can't defend the rim. The Mavs desperately need a center and he even got benched by them. JJB? C'mon...we saw how he looked in Minny. He might get 5 minutes a night on the right team as a change of pace guy.
Matthews has no lift whatsoever. He's basically a cripple out there. I respect him...he's a tough dude...he's just finished as a quality NBA player...
