The dude needs to get better shape if he wants to stay in the NBA. Credit to Blowby Training for this (same guy who made the hair in the way of your jumper video).

I always thought the Laker fans seem to overrate this kid.
But homerism is to be expected if a project with "potential" is drafted by your favorite team.

I was satisfied considering this was technically his first season and showed a lot of potential considering the circus that was the Lakers this last season. Kobe's send off combined with Scott's coaching seemed to make it hard to get any rhythm in one's game. I think conditioning and hustle will improve with having had a full season under his belt and next season should have more organized coaching.

So I guess it's overrating a rookie that averages a double double.

All of a sudden people will start having a negative opinion just because of this video? Dude averaged a double double in his first year. Sure he has defensive issues but his hustle did make up for it a few times. He isn't afraid to bang around for boards with anyone and can push the ball extremely well. Another issue is his lack of a jumper and sometimes he's out of control but overall he's a great addition to the team. His conditioning has not been a problem at all.

1: He broke his leg in his rookie season and probably wasn't in shape to start the season.
2: He averaged a double-double on a dysfunctional team in weird minutes as a rookie coming off that broken leg, and you're talking about what he has to do to
stay in the league?
3: His defense does suck, I"m not going to deny that. But you could pick other players on the Lakers (Bob Sacre or Nick Young, for instance) if you wanted to pick out a player that needs to improve to stay in the league.

Was his conditioning a problem in both high school and college as well? I'm asking because it's one of the comments on the video. Broken leg or not, when you're 21-22 years old you are in the prime of your athletic life. There is no excuse for being out of shape at that age, especially if you are a pro baller. That's why I never understood the Anthony Bennett excuses.

He is a energizer bunny who can crash the glass and rim run but is shooting under 45% with most of his attemptscoming inside the paint. If he can develop a jumper he at least needs a soft touch around the cup. He will always be a turnstile due to his t-rex arms, a blackhole and his bullyball game doesn't translate. Were fans expecting ZBo he may be Thomas Robinson with a better handle and playmaking when he is in the mood

Lakers fans need somebody else to irrationally defend now that Kobe is gone.

Hopefully he doesn't become the next Sullinger. For everyone's sake.

I love when people bring up Kobe when he's not even playing anymore. It really shows how much of an impact he had on the game.
As for Randle, I don't think his conditioning is an issue. He just sucks on defense and conditioning definitely isn't the reason. I'm still very skeptical on Randle, he's got a bunch of stuff he needs to work on to ever be a star in this league. I don't think he'll ever get there, but I've been wrong plenty of times.

Im not in love with his game but the video is a bit biased in a negative way just like highlight vids are in a good way. He's had some good and bad moments. Needs to develop a bit. This year we'll see what he's made of. I for one dont think he's some future perennial all star and never have.

Who overrates him? You can't link me one thread on this board where Randle is the central theme, much less one started by a Lakers fan. Quit making things up.

Randle strengths are rebounding and pushing the ball up court quickly. I would like him to do that more in Lukes offense. Off the court Randle says and does all the right things and he seems sincere. I think his value will go up considerable this season.
Our GM Mitch said Randle has been at the practice facility more than any other Laker this offseason. So I doubt he has conditioning issues.

I don't think anyone is expecting him to be a perennial all star. Who is saying this??? He will be a good serviceable role player which he pretty much already is. The guy will get better no doubt especially with better coaching unlike the imbecile of a coach we just had. Seems like only people who are saying he is overrated are those that are arguing that he isn't just to trying to get a rise out of Lakers fans.

averaged a double double in his first season in the league in just 27 minutes after coming off a bad leg injury. Yes his game has holes and his D needs serious improvement but he has already shown the ability to pass the ball when he actually wants to (see his triple double). He's supposed to be the third best player out of the Lakers young core. I'm hardly going to complain with what i saw from him last year. He's also been working on his jumper a lot this offseason. Hopefully, it pays off a little for this year. Also never saw anything that made me think he was out of shape. Every single player in this league takes plays off, it's called getting tired.
