Embiid's ceiling: Hakeem or Shaq level.

Since Embiid has the physical tools, size, and mobility that we haven't seen for quite some time, what do you think his ceiling will be?

He'll be lucky to average 14/10/2blk.

Let him play at least half a season first before we start comparing him to other players no?

With the growth spurt I think it's hard to comp him to Hakeem anymore.

He doesn't have the sheer power or girth as Shaq and will play a totally different style.

I think the closest comp is Kareem. He is the only guy with that kind of size, skill and athleticism that the game has seen. The kid has amazing ability to pick up things quickly and only started playing basketball in 2010 or 2011. He starts 2013 coming off the bench at Kansas and within 20 games he is the concensus #1 pick in the draft over the pre-ordained next great ones, Jabari and Wiggins. The big question is health but the foot has fully healed now and he doesn't seem to have lost anything. He has taken the time to strengthen and remold his body and improve the finesse components of his game.

Embiid is what "The Process" was all about.

I'll be pretty shocked if he plays 20 minutes over 60 games.

Pretty sure OP meant to say we haven't seen Embiid play in some time, right?

Has he even been cleared to play yet?

Like 80% of the posts in this thread will be people clowning him on some level but I still believe in the dude. Watching him in college I thought his max ceiling was a bigger, stronger but less nimble/quick Hakeem. His improvement on a game to game basis was absurd, it seemed like he picked up a new move and understood the game better every passing day. His natural talent and feel for the game was off the charts.

Watching how how massive he's gotten, a (potentially) healthy Embiid is going to absolutely destroy dudes. There is no one in the league who could guard him. I'm rooting for him, hope he can put together at least 60 games at full strength this year. Basketball fans deserve at least one season of Embiid healthy.

I'd like to see him play a few games before predicting he's HOF....

I choose none of the above.

Embiid's ceiling is Embiid's ceiling, and no one else.

You could argue that having the agility and anatomical integrity to play physically and athletically while avoiding injury is a kind of physical tool - although it's never really talked about as one. So can an injury prone guy ever be considered as someone who has all the physical tools?

Assuming that was the intention for posting this thread.

Will this player that hasn't played in 2 years be on Hakeem's and Shaq's level? Seems like a serious topic created by a Lakers' fan.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Arvydas Sabonis, and Vlade Divac are the guys that come to mind after the injuries. It's hard to not envision his athleticism as significantly impaired at this point, but he has a good amount of skill, awareness, and size; which historically has allowed athletically limited players to still be enough of a factor at that position before. Although you wonder if they'd be dinosaurs in today's game.

Hakeem? Shaq? He'd be lucky to even have the ceiling of a player like Jermaine O'Neal and even that ceiling seems like a far reach for Embiid and a little insulting to J.O.
