It'd be a disgrace for a team with the 10th best record in the NBA to have the MVP.

A few weeks ago it was Kawhi's. Then 'omg just give it to Harden already'. Now it's Westbrook.

I think the race has officially entered the part of 'final impression' phase. In that sense, Harden might reserve a bit because the Rockets have bigger plans in the playoffs, and Harden is still nursing his dominant wrist. OKC know they won't go far, WB knows that too, so we can expect him to go all out for the remaining games to get what he wants with *no restrictions*. We've seen it in his all star MVP, and scoring title last year.

Cant' say he doesn't deserve it though.

It'll be a disgrace if Westbrook doesn't win it just because his team is trash around him

That team is still trash including Westbrook, like I said, 10th best record in the NBA. Top 33%, big whoop.

This is a bridge too far, sir! I demand satisfaction! Name your weapon and place!

But seriously, this is kind of just hating for no reason.

Thunder are 45-33 with four games remaining.

Even if they win out, they still only puts them at 49-33. That's inexcusable for an MVP.

Notice I didn't comment on the part where he was talking about team record disqualifying him, but the part about the team being trash including Westbrook.

I don't see "inexcusable", but I understand the people who do.

A look at the seeding of past MVPs.

2016- MVP -curry. Seeding- 1st

2015- MVP- curry. Seeding- 1st

Westbrook - 45-33.

I actually think OKC might be able to go far in playoffs as long as Goatbrook plays fundamentally sound defense... and I think he will do that since his triple double chase is over at that stage... that team could be great defensively, it is the rockets who might be vulnerable in the playoff run instead

Harden's wrist injury worries me. It's been clearly bothering him and resting isn't going to make it better.

If harden is healthy, rockets should easily take care of the Thunder in the playoffs.

Obviously, upsets do happen. Doesn't really change the fact that this is a regular season award, and the Thunder are trash compared to the Rockets (and 9 other teams) in the regular season. That is already a proven fact.

Please try and add something to the discussion instead of this. Personally I don't think the MVP always should HAVE to come from a top seed, but perhaps you can add more to the discussion than just make comments about people being Rockets fans.

It's hard for me to lean one way or the other, so I'll just stick with my local star player. Westbrook is having a fantastic March & April, but I'm not letting recent results cloud the judgement of an entire season. Harden has put up the same crazy numbers beside chasing the triple double record, and has lead his team to almost 10 more wins. Two seasons ago, I was all-in on giving the MVP to the player putting up crazy stats on a bad team while leading them to the playoffs, but that player won 56 games compared to what Westbrook will probably finish with (which is 47 wins).

32/10/10 with 47 wins vs. 29/11/8 with 57 wins

I can't believe we have two players in the same season putting up those numbers.

They are not trash. 3 of those 9 other teams have only 3 more wins than the Thunder. Being 12 games over 500 is not trash, says the Suns fan.
